Registers/preregisters patients to receive medical services in clinic laboratory inpatient outpatient or emergency department. Obtains demographic information validates insurance and receives/post payments. Adheres to necessary regulatory requirements. Answers and/or refers questions received from patients visitors and staff to appropriate department. Performs various related clerical functions. Always shows respect and value for our customer and projects an image of professionalism.
Accountabilities/Performance Standards
Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Skills: Must demonstrate excellent communication customer service and interpersonal skills in a fastpaced environment. Must be able to input and retrieve information from a computer operate a calculator fax machine and copier. Must have previous experience with computers and office applications. Must be able to move about office and between workstations. Must be able to occasionally lift move and carry moderately heavy materials. Must demonstrate commitment to exceptional customer service. Must have strong organization skills and the ability to multitask. Must be able to read and speak the English language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: College Degree
Skills: Having experience or basic knowledge of health insurance plans and medical terminology
Years of Experience: At least 1 year experience in medical registration customer service or collection. 1 year Customer Service experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Occasionally lifts/carries/pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds. Frequent prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
Must be able to complete 45 weeks of full time training Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. 6 p.m.
