Job Description

This parttime position offers a work schedule of less than 29 hours per week. Eligible parttime employees working 2429 hours weekly may qualify for some benefits including health insurance and pension options. Parttime employees also accrue vacation and may receive paid holidays depending on their schedule. Additional details regarding benefits and eligibility will be discussed during the hiring process.

Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America serving Cook DuPage Will Lake Kane and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe reliable and efficient commuter service.

Procurement Operations is headed by the Sr. Division Director and divided into four groups: Procurement Materials & Services Procurement Professional Services Procurement and Construction & Facility Maintenance.

Reporting to the Manager Materials the Materials Management Coordinator will coordinate all material control and purchasing activities and processes.

The primary duties include: Ensure purchase agreements accurately reflect the needs of the customer by working with the user groups to collect and document information pertaining to projected item usage and take necessary steps to ensure current item pricing and lead times are also reflected.

Expedite open purchase orders; electronically track vendor responses; and provide customers with updated vendor delivery dates.

Take appropriate necessary steps to respond to inventory demand by entering orders into the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Review and audit established purchase agreements for accuracy and provide recommendations to correct any deficiencies to the appropriate personnel.

Assist with reconciling discrepancies with open purchase orders such as quantity and price variances unit of measure and packaging issues etc.

Works under both inside and outside environmental conditions under prevailing conditions of heat cold rain and snow.

Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act not the Social Security Administration.

1. Bachelors degree in supply chain and logistics business administration or related degree OR in lieu degree any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree that equals four 4 years in supply chain operations or materials management.

5. Intermediate skill using Microsoft 365 (Word Excel Access).
