Position Overview
This position is accountable for interpreting policies and procedures governing geometric design capacity and access control of highways for the design of intersections interchanges rest areas and weigh stations. This position is also responsible for the analysis of crash data and the development and submittal of the annual safety program under the direction of the Geometrics Engineer. This position is also responsible for the direction of route location and design studies during peak workloads. Design review and preparation of intersection designs for approval by the Geometrics Engineer and crash analysis/submittal of the annual safety program are performed by this position.
Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology preengineering construction management and/or transportation engineering PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience
Knowledge of computer applications such as MicroStation Geopak and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Thorough knowledge of civil engineering as it applies to design construction and maintenance of highways
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with departmental and industry staff
Strong oral and/or written communication skills
