Description

Atrium Health Levine Childrens Hospitalis looking for an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their growing Pediatric Trauma Surgery team. Levine Childrens Hospital is the only designated level 1 pediatric trauma center in the Charlotte region and the largest childrens hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. This is a shiftbased nocturnal position 7p7a). This includes rotating weekends and holidays.

The successful candidate should be able to perform a thorough history and physical assessment. Also able to evaluate assess implement plans and monitor other comorbid medical conditions secondary to critical illness and should be able to work closely with our trauma surgeons and critical care teams to solve complex clinical a variety of surgical procedures after privileging by Medical Staff to include: chest tube placement placement of central and arterial lines laceration repairs and I&D etc.

The APP will manage already admitted pediatric trauma patients attend pediatric trauma codes in the Peds ED with trauma attendings admit to the floor or ICU as clinically indicated perform procedures and assist in the OR.

Position Description:
Shift based model / Nocturnal
Pediatric trauma coverage: 24/7/365
Every third weekend rotating holidays
Teaching opportunities with residents and/or APP Fellows

Education Experience and Certifications
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions. Current PALS and ATLS preferred.

  • Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. Pediatric Acute Care board certification requiredbased upon population and acuity served.
    • 1 Year experience as a PNPAC required
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required masters degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
    • 1 Year experience required
