Job Description
Q Labs is looking for a Maintenance Technician to maintain all aspects of the facilities including both building maintenance and grounds maintenance; provide preventative maintenance and repair for the facility including but not limited to basic equipment and building structure.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the internal custodial duties of the entire facility.
- Mopping waxing buffing vacuuming sanitizing floors where necessary.
- Removing trash from all areas inside and out to keep facility uncluttered.
- Cleaning windows.
- General cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces throughout the campus
2. Responsible for repair and maintenance on a wide variety of items for the facility including but not limited to the following:
- Perform minor repair or replacement on doors windows walls steps floors and roof.
- Perform minor electrical repair (e.g. bulbs lighting fixtures switches outlets); assists contract electrician in repair and/or installation.
- Perform minor repair of plumbing equipment (e.g. sinks toilets faucets pipes drains steam lines water lines).
- Perform carpentry work and/or repair to buildings equipment and wooden structures; perform spot roof repair and install security devices.
- Ensures all fire alarms lighting stations and emergency exits are operational and have the proper battery backup on a monthly to yearly basis.
- Ensure all safety showers and eyewashes are operational and leak free on a monthly basis.
- Boiler maintenance.
- Maintain the entire grounds including snow and ice removal to ensure they are presentable.
3. When capable provide maintenance and repair on basic equipment such as boilers autoclaves dishwashers refrigerators freezers hot plates steam baths water baths ovens etc.
4. Responsible for the purified DI water system for the facility.
- Ordering replacement tanks when supply is low.
- Flushing and sanitizing of the entire system.
- Fixing leaks including faucet repair.
5. Monitor all contractors that enter the facility with regard to building maintenance or repair.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of hand and/or power tools & phases of construction such as plumbing and electricity.
- Safety practices pertaining to the operation of hand tools.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices.
- Knowledgeable with the operation of lawn equipment.
- Ability to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions.
- Valid drivers license good driving record & insurable.
- Ability to get along with and communicate properly with others.
Experience and Education:
Any combination of education training and experience that has led to the acquisition of the knowledge skills and abilities as indicated above. Typical ways of acquiring these knowledge skills and abilities are:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
