The Role:
As a Systems Safety Engineer you will engage with an experienced crossdisciplinary staff to assess our innovative Consumer Electronics products against customer safety. You will work closely with internal as well as external partners to drive failure and root cause analysis identify trend risks work closely with design & sustaining engineering and develop mechanisms & metrics to ensure customer delight with our products. You must be responsive flexible datadriven and able to succeed within an open collaborative engineering & management environment. Clear & adaptive written verbal and nonverbal communication skills are required.
Key job responsibilities
As Safety engineer and Elecrical Engineering subject matter expert you will work alongside other Electrical Mechanical Firmware/Software Radio Frequency Audio Quality and Manufacturing engineers as well as Program Management; supporting the analysis coordination and design optimization for the safety of Amazon products. You will be exposed to product development facets ranging from concept development to validation through highvolume production sustaining for devices product lines.
Responsibilities include:
1. Drive failure & forensics analysis involving electrical circuits from component to system level
2. Devise methods to understand bounds of causes and impacts to present to leadership for business decisions
3. Perform & contribute to failure mode & effects analysis single & multiple fault testing and consult over Design for Safety efforts across Amazon wearable Echo Kindle Kindle Fire Fire TV and new product categories
4. Assist to communicate issues root cause & corrective action status risks and other data at many levels within the company from crossfunctional individual contributors to executives
5. Drive corrective action efforts through schematic/BOM/layout/integration changes lessons learned & improvement mechanisms with sustaining manufacturing and design engineering
6. Contribute to design and system reviews involving hardware firmware software and manufacturing
7. Develop automated test tools (LabView Matlab Python etc) to improve data and design analysis
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
35 years of industry experience in systemlevel design sustaining or validation including circuit design integration failure analysis and debug.
12 years of experience with offshore contract manufacturers
Deep knowledge of system integration including architectural tradeoffs mixedsignal and power designs communication protocols (I2C/UART/SPI/USB/MIPI/I2S/HDMI) HW/FW/SW codependencies crossfunctional dependencies regulatory body certifications & testing manufacturing processes and verification techniques
Solid circuit failure and system analysis skills
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or higher
35 years of relevant industry experience in systemlevel design sustaining or validation including circuit design integration and debug
Strong interpersonal and documentation skills with diverse collaborators
Advanced working knowledge of power generation delivery and management
Ability to operate autonomously creatively and in a datadriven manner
Proven HazardBased Safety analysis and risk mitigation history
AC/DC power adapter and Battery Management System proficiency
Ability to travel internationally

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
