Program Instructor CBE (Parttime)
The Youth Challenge Program Instructor is a parttime position working a total of 3032 hours per week from May 27 to August 8.

The Youth Challenge Program Instructor is a parttime position paid hourly. Hourly pay is $23.00 (FLSA NonExempt) per hour. The Instructor will be required to work a total of 3032 hours per week from May 27 to August 8.
Any schedule adjustments will be based on programming needs and holidays will be shared in advance.
Position Summary: The Youth Challenge Program Instructor is a parttime teaching position within CHNs Community Building & Engagement Division responsible for managing the daytoday operations of CHNs Youth Challenge Program a sixweek paid summer employment program for CHN youth (ages 1418 in Cleveland. The program is part of CHNs Summer Youth Work Experience in partnership with Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U. which administers wages.
The Youth Challenge Program is a workbased learning experience designed to build leadership and project design skills while incorporating financial literacy and service learning. A key feature is weekly multigenerational engagement where youth collaborate with senior citizens on communitybuilding projects. The Program Instructor plays a central role in preprogram planning program implementation and postprogram evaluation working closely with the Program Manager of Youth Workforce Development. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans leading activities mentoring youth and ensuring meaningful engagement throughout the program.
The Program Instructor ensures that youth employees actively participate develop essential skills and complete handson projects. They will also coordinate with program partners track youth progress and contribute to program evaluation by documenting outcomes and recommending improvements. Success in this role requires strong facilitation mentorship and organizational skills to create a supportive engaging learning environment that fosters both youth development and intergenerational connections.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daytoday management of CHNs Youth Challenge Program.
  • Provide career exposure and skill development in project design job readiness and leadership.
  • Train youth employees to become change agents through handson project work.
  • Prepare and facilitate activities and trainings.
  • Coordinate career exposure opportunities and servicelearning engagements.
  • Collaborate with CHNs Youth Workforce Development Program Manager.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:
Education:
  • Acquired or actively pursuing a bachelors degree or higher degree in education social work community development etc.
Experience:
  • Candidates must have experience in youth development education social work or a related field with required skills in lesson planning facilitation and training. They should be able to engage youth in structured learning mentor or supervise participants and adapt activities to diverse needs. Experience with intergenerational or community engagement initiatives is preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong facilitation and mentorship skills to engage youth in structured learning activities.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and activities to meet the diverse needs of youth partners and program sites.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to lead discussions prepare lesson plans and correspond with youth employee parents and partners.
  • Effective problemsolving and conflict resolution skills to address challenges in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate programming and maintain participant records.
  • Dependable punctual and accountable with the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Enthusiastic patient and flexible able to work in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to accept supervision implement feedback and work collaboratively with staff and partners.
Other:
  • Must have valid drivers license current automobile insurance and access to a car.
  • Ability to stand walk and move frequently throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for programming activities.
  • Satisfactory results received from Background check required.
