Position Summary: The Glaucoma Technicians primary responsibility is preparing patients for their appointments with the glaucoma specialist. This includes gathering and documenting patient history performing diagnostic tests specific to glaucoma and assisting the physician during office visits. The technician will also be responsible for performing tonometry pachymetry visual field testing OCT imaging and assisting with minor inoffice procedures. Additionally the technician supports various clerical and clinical tasks such as chart preparation medication reconciliation equipment sterilization and patient communications.
Job Responsibilities: - Prepare and assist the physician during patient visits including scribing charting and ensuring accurate documentation for billing.
- Assist with inoffice glaucoma procedures such as SLT LPI and other laser treatments.
- Obtain and review diagnostic tests as ordered by the provider such as visual field testing OCT imaging fundus photography pachymetry and IOP checks.
- Conduct patient workups including medication reconciliation and allergy documentation.
- Assist in sterilization and maintenance of diagnostic and treatment equipment ensuring compliance with all safety and hygiene standards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and staff to ensure quality care and patient satisfaction.
- Respond effectively to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Demonstrate proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and the ability to learn new computer systems.
- Maintain strong communication skills sound judgment and the ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to patientcentered service.
- Understand and uphold the customer service values and standards of the practice.

Work Environment: - This job operates in a fastpaced professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Required Education and Experience: - High school diploma or GED
- COA certification a plus but not required; willingness to work towards certification over a period of time.
- 1 years of experience working in a Glaucoma clinic.
