Position Summary:
The Community Liaison serves within Metropolitan State University of Denvers Gina and Frank Day Health Institute (DHI) working with a broad and inclusive student population to prepare them for careers in the mental health workforce. This role collaborates closely with K12 school districts and students to strengthen and expand the pipeline for mental health professionals in schools.
This is a grantfunded position reporting to the Associate Director. The Community Liaison will play a key role in the success of the DoE Im Healthy Health Scholars program by fostering strong relationships between Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSUD) participating high schools and community partners. The position is primarily focused on recruiting and supporting high school students from Title 1 Schools (T1S) who are interested in pursuing careers in school mental health. The Community Liaison will conduct workshops and seminars on Designing Your Life (DYL) in participating high schools providing students with essential information about career pathways in mental health preparing them for higher education and guiding them toward professional opportunities. Duties/Responsibilities:
Community Engagement and Partnership Development 30
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners including local high schools organizations in mental health and other stakeholders.
- Incorporate feedback from community partners and program participants to enhance program offerings and achieve desired outcomes.
Outreach and Workshop Delivery 30
- Conduct Design Your Life (DYL) workshops in participating high schools to prepare students for college and explore career pathways in mental health.
- Promote the DoE Im Healthy Health Scholars program and support recruitment efforts at partner high schools.
- Provide students with guidance on college readiness financial resources and opportunities in mental health careers.
- Assist in coordinating the Peer Health Exchange program interns and graduate student interns in select schools where needed
Program Support and Coordination 20
- Collaborate with MSUD staff and faculty school district partners and community organizations to maintain effective communication and program alignment.
- Assist the Program Manager (PM) and Principal Investigator (PI) in planning and executing program events.
- Facilitate high school student participation in the Health Career Summit including coordinating transportation logistics.
Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement 10
- Partner with the program evaluator to collect and analyze data related to student recruitment program outcomes and overall effectiveness.
- Participate in team meetings to assess progress address challenges and propose strategies for ongoing program enhancement.
Health Institute Planning and Collaboration 10
- Contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum for Health Institute events such as the Navigate Your Health Career Summit workshops and seminars.
- Support Health Institute events activities and celebrations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Health Institute leadership including grant writing data collection and preparing conference proposals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in community outreach youth mentorship or educational program coordination.
- Strong organizational and communication skills including public speaking and workshop facilitation.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including high school students educators and mental health professionals.
- 2 years demonstrated experience working with a k12 school districts students in an academic or communitybased setting such as a recruiter advisor case manager educational counselor career coach mentor or teacher
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Social Work Psychology Public Health Education).
- 5 years working with a k12 school
- Knowledge or interest in mental health fields and career pathways.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple institutions and agencies to support program goals.
- Experience working in or with Title 1 schools or other underserved communities is a plus.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
- Experience in grant work
Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications analysis of internal equity and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $49900$24950 0.5 FTE rate) $62400$31200 0.5 FTE rate).The full salary range is $49900$24950 0.5 FTE rate) $74900$37450 0.5 FTE rate).
This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
