Position Summary
The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping the exterior and common areas of the property clean daily. The Housekeeper helps with cleaning makeready units and assisting the maintenance team as needed. Supervisor may assign additional duties as necessary. The Housekeeper is the communitys silent salesperson. His/her work is seen daily by the residents in the common areas hallways and amenity areas and by prospective residents when they tour the community. The Housekeeper sets a quality standard in the community. This job may require personal contact with residents. Professional conduct is always essential. The Housekeeper reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
Community Maintenance 100
Responsible for helping to maintain the entire property in an attractive comfortable condition
Assists in trash pickup on the property
Performs daily cleaning of office clubhouse kitchen model (s) and show unit (s) including vacuuming and dusting as needed.
Daily cleaning of laundry rooms
Helps clean grounds and all common areas daily
Assists in all types of cleaning when necessary and as requested
Assists in completing the cleaning of corporate units turnovers/make readies of vacant units as requested
Clean and maintain models and/or target units on a daily basis
Assists in maintaining inventory of cleaning and bathroom supplies
Notify maintenance of burned out light bulbs broken globes etc. in units and throughout the exterior of the property as needed
Observes condition of property in general and reports any unusual circumstances
Enters occupied apartments to perform necessary cleaning as requested and needed
Cleans up thoroughly after performing work
Notifies Maintenance Supervisor and/or Community Manager as directed regarding any supplies necessary to complete cleaning requests
Follows company procedures regarding safety and emergencies
Assists with resident functions as needed
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Required Education and Skills
6 months of housekeeping experience in a commercial or residential setting
Any satisfactory combination of education training experience or abilities in a related field
Flexibility with work schedule to include ability to work extended hours on a periodic basis
Must be willing to travel and assist at other Ashford Communities as needed
Must have a good work ethic and have the ability and drive to advance to higher positions
Team player
Must be able to follow direction and assignments as assigned by supervisor
Must have pride in work and take accountability for all work done
Must be able to effectively work with cleaning chemicals and follow all safety directions
Preferred Education and Skills
2 3 years of housekeeping experience in a commercial or residential setting
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Basic computer knowledge
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Environment: The incumbent typically works in a building and in outdoor areas and uses mechanical and office equipment as needed to perform duties with associate noise levels. Weather conditions may vary. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday and encounter extensive public contact at time. Position requires travel for marketing/property errands or training classes. Possible to work long hours and odd schedules (weekends) in order to fulfill job duties.
Physical: Frequent lifting carrying pushing or pulling 2050 lbs and constantly moving furniture and/or appliances correctly and safely. Body agility is important. Ability to maintain equilibrium is also important to prevent falling from high places or when walking standing or crouching. Stooping downward and forward by bending legs and spine at the waist requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Frequent kneeling and bending legs at the knees to come to rest on one or both knees. Frequent crouching downward and forward by bending legs at the knees and back/spine. Frequent reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Frequent handling of various sizes and weights of items. Needs the ability to seize hold grasp turn or otherwise work with one or both hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hands such as to turn a switch or replace a light bulb.
Vision: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Hearing: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
