Hennepin County District Court has an amazing opportunity for a Court Operations Associate to join the Family Filing Team (FFT)! This is a diverse professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users.

Court Operations Associates work individually and in teams using independent judgment along with available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments. This role requires dedication to providing customers with a professional court experience an eye for detail excellent communication time management and technological skills to match our highperformance environment.

Example of Duties

Work includes processing electronically filed and paper filed documents; assisting customers who are appearing for domestic abuse related cases; working directly with customers at a public counter and answering public phone lines. Court Operations Associates rotate through these areas as needed and must be flexible as to assignment and attentive to detail. This position does not provide support in the courtroom.

The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform:

  • Parties documents flags comments events and dispositions in case processing system and other relevant systems; notifies relevant individuals about missing information documents or noncompliant legal forms.
  • Processes cases within assigned area of responsibility; research tracks and monitors case status and progression; follows up with judges lawyers and/or parties as necessary.
  • Provides assistance to attorneys parties selfrepresented litigants judges and the public by responding to a variety of questions inperson over the phone by mail and/or electronically; refers new or complex questions to higher level staff.
  • Issues receipts for payment of court fees; reconciles daily receipts and cash registers.
  • Attends and participates in division/team meetings and trainings; maintains knowledge of court policies process and procedures.
  • Utilizes applicable technology (i.e. operating and information systems and/or programs) and office equipment to perform and complete work assignments.

What You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One 1 year of relevant job experience or greater which may include but is not limited to customer service administrative work office and clerical work.
    • Or equivalent education and experience.


Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of court procedures and policies laws legal terminology and legal factors pertaining to the court.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and cases appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules policies and statutes.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying types and complexity and apply knowledge of specific laws statutes rules policies and procedures related to the area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of the organization operation function and jurisdiction of the court.

Supplemental Information
The expected starting salary for external candidates is $21.00 $27.42 per hour $43848 $57252.96 annually. The offer will take into consideration other equivalent qualifications.

The full classification earning potential is $20.43 $34.41 per hour $42657.84 $71848 annually with the top end of the range being what someone could be making after years of service in the role of Court Operations Associate. This position is non exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.

This AFSCMErepresented position is posted for bidding internal and external application simultaneously and will be filled in accordance with the AFSCME contract.

Additional Information
The Family Court Division is located on the 1st floor of the Family Justice Center: 110 South 4th Street Minneapolis MN 55401.
The core hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. MondayFriday but may vary depending on the assignment and operational needs. This position is currently working primarily hybrid depending on business needs.
