Please note: We are hiring one candidate between the Fleet Maintenance Technician I II III position and the Fleet Master Technician position. Both are closing and interviewing at the same time. Under general supervision this position is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on the Towns fleet of vehicles and equipment.

*This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in preemployment and random drug testing under Towns policies*

  • Maintains the Town of Parker and the City of Lone Trees fleets of vehicles and equipment ensuring they are in prime condition.
  • Performs basic care and maintenance including changing oil checking fluid levels and rotating tires; assesses vehicles to accurately diagnose and repair issues.
  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as scheduling parts ordering outsourcing repairs and maintenance and safety investigations; participates in field activities when necessary.
  • Provides technical information regarding the care and maintenance of present assets; enter maintenance records.
  • Ensures adherence to safe working procedures and maintaining safe work environments.
  • Ensures compliance with all Town and departmental values policies procedures and philosophies.
  • Attends trainings necessary to maintain certifications and competence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the education experience certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.


Technician I/II/III

Must be eighteen 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Drivers License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two 2 years of driving history.


Employees within the Fleet Maintenance Technician position series are eligible to participate in a selfinitiated progression program for promotional advancement through technician levels. Below are the distinguishing characteristics for each level:

Technician I:

This is an entrylevel position within the Fleet Maintenance technician series. This position is distinguished from the Technician II by the performance of limited and routine tasks and duties assigned. Technician I is typically utilized as a training platform for employees having only limited or no related work experience.


This level prefers one 1 year of experience in Fleet maintenance.


This level requires two 2 of the following ASE Automobile and Light Truck Series certifications to be obtained within one 1 year of hire: Suspension and Steering Brakes Electrical/Electronic Systems or Engine Performance.


Technician II:

This is a midlevel position within the Fleet Maintenance technician series. This position is distinguished from Technician I by the performance of a full range of tasks and duties assigned. The Technician II receives only occasional instruction or assistance and is fully aware of the operating procedures and policies associated with the Division. Movement to/or placement in a Technician II role presumes all requirements of a Technician I (or the equivalent) have been met.


This level requires one 1 year experience as a Town of Parker Fleet Technician I or two 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance operations outside of the Town of Parker.


This level requires three 3 of the following ASE Automobile and Light Truck Series certifications be initiated within one 1 year of hire and obtained within eighteen 18 months of hire: Suspension and Steering Brakes Electrical/Electronic Systems and Engine Performance.


This level requires two 2 of the following ASE MediumHeavy Truck Series certifications be initiated within one 1 year of hire and obtained within eighteen 18 months of hire: Drive Train Brakes Suspension and Steering Electrical/Electronic Systems or Preventative Maintenance Inspection.

This level requires a Class B Commercial Drivers License with air brake and tanker endorsements.


Technician III:

This is an upperlevel position within the Fleet Maintenance technician series. This position is distinguished from Technician II by years of experience additional licenses and certifications performance of a full range of tasks and duties assigned. The Technician III receives limited instruction or assistance and is fully aware of the operating procedures and policies associated with the Division. Movement to/or placement in a Technician III role presumes all requirements of a Technician II (or the equivalent) have been met.


This level requires two 2 years of experience as a Fleet Maintenance Technician II for the Town of Parker or five 5 years of equivalent experience outside the Town of Parker.


This level requires three 3 of the following ASE MediumHeavy Truck Series certifications be initiated within one 1 year of hire and obtained within eighteen 18 months of hire: Drive Train Brakes Suspension and Steering Electrical/Electronic Systems or Preventative Maintenance Inspection.


Employment Standards

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge of equipment materials techniques and supplies used in the maintenance of vehicles and various equipment including trucks cars police vehicles tractors vans loaders and street sweepers.
  • Skill in the use of computers various software programs and other types of modern office equipment.
  • Knowledge of team building methods and the ability to demonstrate focus on teamwork in the performance of duties.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in problemsolving.
  • Ability to identify and implement risk management techniques to reduce exposure to injury damage and liability.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use independent discretion and judgement within organizational values policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and interact successfully with other agencies organizations and individuals.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls after hours; be on call occasionally work irregular hours weekends evenings or holidays in emergency situations.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment background check.

Physical Demands

Requires physical activity with heavy lifting up to fifty 50 pounds and occasionally carrying pulling pushing or lifting more than one hundred 100 pounds with must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood.

Employee must be able to consistently see with near and far acuity depth perception color vision and field vision. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision acuity night vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust his or her focus allowing a broad field of vision.


Environment

Work is frequently performed in outdoor conditions with varying temperatures. The noise level in this environment is moderate to loud with frequent high levels and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions extreme hot or extreme cold conditions or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes toxic or caustic chemicals The employee may encounter mechanical or electrical hazards.
