Job Summary
Active engagement in and analytic support of regulatory and technology trend such as wind solar and storage competitor intelligence and effect on power price heat rate and volume across CAISO PJM MISO and NE/NYThe overall objective of this role is to develop proprietary pointsofview on supplemental fundamental drivers of key power market from technological and regulatory point of views in order to support commercial decisionmaking
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Support commercial team by providing shortterm and longterm fundamental views as necessary renewable resources and their cost trends to assist commercial and point of views in all key markets
- Deep understanding and continuous improvement of the companys fundamental power modeling tools
- Determine market price and congestion impact due to potential market changes including new renewables transmission upgrades supply / demand evolution and market rule changes
- Perform fundamental analysis to support investment decisions including capital projects and M&A activity
- As needed apply data science techniques to improve decisionmaking in energy & capacity markets
- Detailed knowledge of capacity market rules and fundamentals to support capacity market bidding activity and other commercial decisionmaking
- Uptodate knowledge on plant retirements new entries especially in new renewables midterm demand and fuel price expectations
Education Experience & Skill Requirements
- 6 years of progressive experience or any other equivalent experience and training which provides a commensurate level of knowledge skills and abilities towards engineering mathematics statistics or analytics
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
- Excellent knowledge of wholesale and retail energy markets with experience in multiple geographies
- Fundamental modeling skills with programs such as GEMAPS PROMOD Aurora or similar is a plus
- Skills in data science and programming are considered a plus.
- Knowledge of SQL Python (or similar) and Microsoft Power BI is a plus.
- Presentation communication and negotiation skills
- Minimum education is High School Diploma or equivalency
