Job Summary:
The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a multidisciplinary diabetes center affiliated with Children Hospital Colorado as well as the University of Colorado School of Medicine. In the pediatric clinic the patient population is primarily children with type 1 diabetes. In addition to the clinical program the Barbara Davis Center has a large basic research program allowing many ongoing educational opportunities.
This part time Registered Nurse/Diabetes Educator position is an atwill faculty appointment. This position will provide care to children and adults at risk for or in early stages of type 1 diabetes and children with newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus. This nurse will primarily work in 1 the Barbara Davis Center Infusion Center preparing medications (calculating dosage and reconstituting medication) administering via intravenous infusion to patients taking vital signs and observing patients during and postinfusions documenting in the eMR educating on infusion discharge instructions and scheduling patients for next appointments and 2 provide diabetes education for newly diagnosed patients with diabetes mellitus and their families as needed in urgent weekend visits.
This position will be mostly clinical but will involve patient navigation and Early T1D and T1D Clinical Immunotherapy program administrative work as needed. Within scope of job this position requires critical thinking skills decisive judgement strong clinical care skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fastpaced environment and take appropriate action. Must be a strong communicator and willing and able to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals including physicians and other licensed prescribers registered dietitians social workers clinical psychologists professional research assistants pharmacists and technicians and others as needed to provide comprehensive care and support of patients and caregivers.

This position formally reports to the Director of the Pediatric Clinic; Paul Wadwa MD and the charge nurse Megan Jay MSN RN CPN
No supervision of others is required for this position.
This position will provide diabetes care and education to pediatric patients with a new diagnosis of diabetes as well as for established patients. This diabetes educator will develop implement and evaluate care management plans for patients with complex health needs. This part time Instructor position is an atwill faculty appointment. This appointment will involve approximately 100 clinical work. The position serves as a Registered Nurse at the Instructor level.

The clinic is certified by the American Diabetes Association and our nurses dietitians nurse practitioners physician assistants and social workers are Certified Diabetes Educators. Our pediatric endocrinologists also participate in studies that strive to advance and improve glucose monitoring and closedloop technology through observational studies and clinical trials at our Center.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$34.60 to $49.00 an hour based on qualifications and experience
