Job Description
Hours: fulltime 37.5 hours per week)
Location: burg VA 24501
Position Summary
The Clinician LMHPE or LMHP will assess the needs of adults referred to the program and use information obtained to develop and implement appropriate treatment approaches and counseling support services. These services include developing individual treatment plans conducting assessments providing counseling services and educating individuals on available community resources.
Required Education and Experience
- Masters Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling 60hr Masters Program) which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.13500 of the Code of Virginia)
- No experience required
- Prefer Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP) Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (CPCNS).
- Other applicable credentials include: Resident in Professional Counseling Supervisee in Clinical Social Work Resident in Licensed Marriage Family Therapy Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment or eligibility to apply for residency. Note: New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
Related Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of evidenced based practices to include but not limited to; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family group and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc.; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individuals treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of the principles procedures techniques trends and literature related to mental health intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments; Perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends holiday etc. as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid drivers license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal deescalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed; Ability to work modified schedules (weekends holiday etc. as required.
