Celebrating a Century: TITLE:Staff Scientist
POSITION SUMMARY:
Will conduct research to investigate the mechanisms of DNA doublestrand break (DSB) repair in mammalian cells. The projects will employ multidisciplinary approaches combining EGFPbased reporter systems cellbased assays and stateoftheart technologies in genomewide analysis and library screening to elucidate the fundamental principles of DNA repair processes. The candidate will develop new genomewide approaches to facilitate the study of chromosomal rearrangements which are frequently observed in cancer genomes.
We are looking for a highly motivated creative and hardworking individual with expertise in genomewide study.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Lead an independent research program to achieve our research goals.
- Contribute to the development of novel highthroughput assays to assess the impact of genetic alterations on the genotype and to identify new players in DNA doublestrand break repair (DSB) pathways.
- Develop new projects formulate research questions design experimental protocols support grant applications and write and publish highquality research papers.
- Apply a range of molecular and cellular biology technologies to study DNA DSB repair in mammalian cells.
- Supervise and mentor students on research projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. and minimum of 2 postdoctoral experience.
- A strong scientific publication record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
LOCATION:La Jolla California
COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $78000 to $109200 per year commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
