Job Description

 

The Job Mission
A major new nuclear build is underway in Somerset requiring strong onsite engineering support.
This role ensures responsive oversight of embedded steelwork across multiple site construction packages.
You will be the link between contractors designers and quality teams ensuring safe and timely delivery.

Your mission include:

  • Responding to queries and nonconformances across manufacturing and installation phases
  • Reviewing embedded steelwork scope on pools tanks liners and sumps
  • Supporting with expert advice to ensure nuclear safety requirements are upheld
  • Monitoring technical risks and helping manage mitigations
  • Ensuring closure of open points and change requests efficiently
  • Liaising directly with civil contractors and sitebased teams
  • Collaborating across quality project and design teams
  • Transitioning into M&E support during the fitout phase

 


Qualifications :

 

Essential Skills

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Nuclear industry technical knowledge across disciplines
  • Familiarity with steelwork manufacturing and construction
  • Welding engineering experience
  • Riskaware and safetyconscious engineering mindset
  • Ability to work independently and escalate issues as needed
  • Effective communicator in a sitebased environment
  • Confident managing stakeholder engagement

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience with embedded steelwork
  • Structural assessments within nuclear safety standards
  • Experience in complex regulated industries
  • Knowledge of fitout phase for nuclear infrastructure
  • Familiarity with acceptance or handover processes
