WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR


We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst and Visualization Expert to join the Montgomery County Health and Human Services Department (HHS) Planning Analytics and Customer Service (PACS) team. This role combines data analysis skills with experience in storytelling and creating interactive visualizations to support datadriven decision making resource optimization and improving service delivery. While this positions portfolio will primarily consist of projects for the Aging and Disabilities Services unit one of its key responsibilities includes designing and managing an interactive departmentwide data dashboard. The dashboard will track key performance indicators and other health metrics using data from multiple systems and data sources and will highlight areas of success and opportunities for improvement. The most successful applicant will come to this role with a creative mindset and experience in data analysis in the context of public health and/or social services.

What Youll Be Doing

The main duties and responsibilities of this position include:


  • Data analysis: Cleananalyze and model large datasets from multiple systems to uncover trends and build statistical forecast models that inform strategic decisionmaking and improve program effectiveness.

  • Data visualization and storytelling: Create interactive visualizations and reports inPowerBIthat present complex findings in an accessible way helping stakeholders make informed decisions based on key performance indicators.

  • Dashboard development and management: Develop andmaintaina usercentric dashboard that centralizes key health and human services data ensuring visualizations are intuitive and provide actionable insights for decisionmakers. Ensure the dashboardremainsfunctional andaccurate incorporating feedback to continuously improve the user experience.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to understand data needs tailor visualizations and present insights that support effective decisionmaking across HHS.

  • Continuous improvement: Stay updated on trends in data science and analytics applying new methods and tools to enhance models visualizations and overall decisionmaking processes within HHS programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Thorough five 5 years professional experience as aData Analyst. Supervisory experience is.


Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree.


Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria Interview Preferences

Wewilluse preferred criteria screening questions:


  • Degree: Do youpossessa bachelors degree in computer science Engineering Health Informatics or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

  • Data analysis: Describe a recent project where you used a statistical analysis tool (such as R or Python) to clean andanalyzea large dataset. Briefly explain what youanalyzed the methods you used the final product and who the target audience was.

  • Defining KPIs and measuring impact: Share an example where you defined key performance indicators to measure a programs success. How did you choose the right metrics and what did your analysis show

  • Visualization and communication: Describe a dashboard or interactive visualization you created using a tool like Power BI or Tableau. How did you ensure it was clear and useful for both technical and nontechnical audiences


We will useinterview preferencecriteria:


  • Proficiencyusing R or Python to clean manipulate andanalyzelarge datasets

  • Experience defining key performance indicators anddeterminingquantitative program impact

  • Expertisein creating interactive visualizations and dashboards using tools like Power BI or Tableau (or equivalent experience with orPlotly

  • Strong oral and visual communication skills for synthesizing and presenting complex data findings to diverse audiences

  • Previousexperience in the public health healthcare or human services sectors
