Other Conditions:

General funds 9months beginning approximately Fall 2025 pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. May be for Leeward CC day evening or weekend offering on and offcampus such as Leeward CC Waianae Moku and local high schools (pending background clearance) grant locations or other satellite campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Under general supervision teach which may include traditional online and hybrid/blended learning environments a variety of food production & service courses ethnic & multicultural cuisine courses such as but not limited to Fundamentals of Cookery I and II Fundamentals of Baking Dining Room Operations Contemporary Cuisines Asian/Continental Cuisine and Garde Manger Introduction to the CulinaryIndustry Sanitation & Safety Purchasing & Cost Management HR Management & Supervision and Culinary Externship.
  2. Plan organize and manage the daytoday cleaning and maintenance of kitchen labs equipment and supplies.
  3. Plan and develop menus order foods and supplies and adhere to food receiving and storage guidelines.
  4. Prepare budgets control food and supply costs and contribute to the financial success of the instructional program.
  5. Plan organize and participate in campus program and industry extracurricular activities.
  6. Related work activities include but are not limited to advising/counseling students; assisting in campusrelated activities; participating in faculty/administrative committees community service and inservice training; maintaining an approved program of professional selfimprovement; collecting data preparing/adapting/revising/ assessing course objectives for credit and/or noncredit courses distance education and offcampus instruction; independently planning organizing and carrying out instructional and noninstructional assignments; conducting course assessment and other assessment of instruction based on student learning outcomes; and improving student learning based on results of assessment data.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors in Culinary Arts and 3 years related work experience which may include professional training; OR
  2. Associate degree in Culinary Arts and 5 years related work experience which may include professional training; OR
  3. 15 college credits in Culinary Arts and 7 years work experience which may include professional training; OR
  4. Master recognition by the Culinary Arts community and 10 years work experience.

Minimum qualifications (degrees and credits) must be earned from regionally or nationally accredited postsecondary colleges and universities recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and met by the effective date of appointment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Course work and experience in fundamental principles techniques and skills of basic cooking.
  2. Work experience as a Sous Chef/supervisor in a commercial kitchen.
  3. Work experience as an Executive Chef or higher in a commercial kitchen.
  4. Industry/commercial kitchen work experience in quantity cooking including stocks soups sauces short order cookery cold food pantry plated desserts and fine dining cuisine.
  5. Industry/commercial kitchen work experience in Garde Manger techniques skills and products.
  6. Industry/commercial work experience in Asian cooking principles techniques and skills.
  7. Industry/commercial work experience in European cooking principles techniques and skills.
  8. Possess effective written and oral communication interpersonal organizational and management skills.
  9. Ability to use computers in instruction and in curriculum development when appropriate.
  10. Demonstrate effectiveness as a contributing team member.
  11. ACF certifiable.
