Job Description

GAI Consultants Inc.is seeking aPower Delivery Solutions Leaderto enhance oversight and development within the Power Delivery Engineering Business Sector. This role reports directly to the Business Sector Leader.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a strong understanding of Transmission Substation and/or Distribution markets.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage projects and technical staff across various disciplines.
  • Have the capacity to generate work for the Business across regions preferably within new markets or territories.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead manage and expand a division within the Power Delivery Engineering sector ensuring strategic growth and operational excellence.
  • Drive sales and marketing effortsto generate work for staff with expertise in Transmission Substation Distribution and Structural engineering.
  • Achieve profitability and productivity goalsfor the Business Sector by managing P&L adhering to chargeable ratio targets overseeing overhead budgets and meeting the sectors profit multiplier.
  • Develop and implement the annual business planfor the Business Sector including gathering information from direct reports and monitoring and reporting progress quarterly.
  • Support corporate mission goals strategies tactics code of conduct policies and proceduresactively.
  • Foster effective communication and collaborationat all levels within the organization. Communicate effectively with corporate management to resolve issues share personnel workloads marketing leads and ideas.
  • Collaborate with Business Sector Leaders Operations and Corporate Servicesto deliver profitable safe and sustainable projects and services for clients.
  • Participate in creating company policies and develop longrange goals and objectives.
  • Manage and grow a teamto support new business initiatives.

Business Development Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop GAIs Power Delivery Engineering business by initiating new client relationships and going deeper within existing clients in the Transmission Substation and Distribution energy sectors.
  • Up to 40 of job duties may be dedicated to support Business Development activities
  • Often serve as the primary seller/doer for a client or group and leads significant business development pursuits.
  • Acts as senior company representative to the client in the community and with contractors.
  • Provides guidance and oversight for significant projects or a portfolio of client projects managed by multiple PMs
  • Leads contract negotiations with clients with assistance from Business Sector Leader

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb stairs up to 12 floors climb a ladder work at high elevations balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. While working in the field conducting inspections the employee will be exposed to the outdoor environment including weather fluctuations.
  • This position requires the successful candidate to perform field visits to client sites to obtain photos and physical measurements and view site conditions.
  • Employees will walk over uneven terrain and over long distances at times. The employee is also required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment including a hard hat safety glasses hearing protection gloves etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Advocates for ethical behavior in the practice of engineering and assesses courses of resolution to ethical dilemmas in complicated situations.

Experience

  • 20 years of experience.

Education

  • B.S. or M.S. Engineering Masters Degree or Equivalent Experience Preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • Professional Engineer (P.E. License reciprocity in multiple states.
  • Drivers License

Technical Responsibilities

  • Frequently performs advisory or consulting work for the practice across broad project areas or within a specialized area with innovative/complex aspects.
  • Assesses practices and requirements to achieve sustainable performance of complex engineering projects from a systems perspective.

Project and Task Management

  • Evaluates project management plans for complex engineering projects.
  • Develops risk mitigation plans to address project risks.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of leaders and teams.

Management Supervision and Guidance

  • Leads an entire project of critical importance.
  • Develops projects needed for accomplishing the objectives of the practice.
  • Develops practice strategy for staff development through mentored experience continuing education and selfdevelopment.
  • Instills and fosters professional attitudes within the practice.

Communication Teamwork and Leadership

  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with leadership of other practices.
  • Represents their practice at important functions and conferences.
