About Us

We are seeking creative dynamic and committed teachers to join our team at Hilson Avenue Public School and Fisher Park Public School .
Hilson Avenue PS is a childcentered learning environment. Academic progress social development and a positive attitude towards self and others are cornerstones of our philosophy. Our community of learners practice teamwork leadership and risktaking as they prepare for the future. Hilson Avenue Public School has a caring creative and dynamic staff! This committed team of professionals have a wide range of experience. Many teachers have earned additional educational qualifications through ongoing professional development. These qualifications include Special Education English as a Second Language French as a Second Language Reading and Computers in Education. The efforts of our staff are significant both inside and outside the classroom.
Fisher Park PS offers a Regular English program Early and Middle French Immersion and the Alternative program (Summit). We draw students from many locations across the OCDSB including Elmdale Devonshire Connaught and Hilson and from the five JK6 alternative schools. Upon completion of grade 8 most of our students attend either Nepean HS or Glebe HS. Our mission is to foster a lifelong love of learning and create a positive environment of mutual respect.
Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the OttawaCarleton District School Boards (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school and the District by creating a positive and inclusive school climate learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with a human rights and equity perspective to foster student success achievement and wellbeing.
All Occasional Teachers are eligible to apply for Long Term Occasional postings for which they are qualified.

Required Qualifications
OCT Divisional Qualifications: Junior Intermediate
OCT Additional Qualifications: FSL Part 1
Additional Requirements (experience knowledge education) considered an asset for the Position: Previous experience with class management and P.E.
Additional Information: Itinerant between two locations 50 FTE at Hilson Ave PS until May 2nd 2025 and 30 FTE at Fisher Park PS until June 27 2025. Onsite parking at both locations.
