Associate Structures Stress Analysis Engineer

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Associate Structures Stress Analysis Engineer to join our team at our location in North Charleston South Carolina.

This is a great opportunity to work at Boeing as a Structures Stress Analysis Engineer. We are specifically hiring for a position in Structures Stress Analysis for our current airplane model 787. In these roles you will perform structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment characteristics and performance. Support test and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Define and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Support inservice products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.

The structures stress analysis engineer understands airplane structural analysis methods and tools for metallic and/or composite structures. The analyst ensures the airplane has sufficient strength to endure all conditions encountered during its operational life as well as investigate field service issues. The analyst also ensures the airplane structure meets all other design requirements including failsafety durability and damage tolerance where applicable.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment characteristics and performance.
  • Supports test and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports inservice products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under general supervision.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors: Mechanical Aerospace Aeronautical or Civil with an emphasis in structures related course material.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience or related work experience and/or combination of additional education and relevant experience with stress analysis.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Finite Element Analysis experience including the use of stress analysis tools such as NASTRAN/PATRAN HYPERMESH ABAQUS or any other stress analysis tools.
  • Ability to support occasional domestic travel to support our customers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1 years of experience with fatigue and/or durability analysis.
  • Demonstrate engineering knowledge as a level 2 engineer ideally working in a Structural and/or Aerospace industry.
  • Experience with Engineering classification such as Mechanical Aerospace Civil or Structural Engineering.
