Position Summary
The Opportunity:Skagit Valley College is accepting applications for associate faculty to teach for the Computer ScienceDepartment. The purpose of posting this position is to build a pool of qualified instructors interested in teaching upper division Computer Scienceclasses. This Associate Faculty position will instruct students seeking their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

The Location:Skagit Valley College is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples especially on Swinomish Indian Tribal Community Upper Skagit Indian Tribe Samish Indian Nation Nooksack Indian Tribe and SaukSuiattle Indian Tribe. Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide effective instruction of upper division computer science for populations representing diverse ages backgrounds life experiences and abilities;
- Create a positive learning environment for students using appropriate teaching methods to support and enhance student success;
- Effectively teach selected upper division computer science courses;
- Develop and incorporate contextualized curriculum and alternative delivery methods that respond to the diverse needs of the community and students;
- Provide class syllabi and course outcomes to students and appropriate departments;
- Assess monitor and document student performance;
- Fulfill parttime faculty responsibilities under the negotiated agreement and Skagit Valley College policies.
- Impart a productive academic mindset that teaches all students regardless of background that they are capable of learning with practice and effort;
- Knowledge of current curriculum teaching and assessment practices;
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing teaching schedules and situations;
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with students and staff of varied ethnicity ages backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment;
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies that facilitate student learning;
- Ability and willingness to employ continuous improvement in curriculum teaching and assessment;

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science or a closely related field (i.e. Information Systems Engineering or Mathematics);
- Documented competence in teaching precollege and collegelevel Computer Science courses;
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
- Two years of teaching experience at a postsecondary institution preferably at a community college;
- Masters Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
Salary Benefits Conditions of Employment Application Procedure About SVC
Salary and Benefits:
The salary rate for parttime faculty is in accordance with the negotiated agreement and may be subject to change based on legislative mandates. In order to be eligible for benefits state regulations must be met.
Rate of Pay:Faculty compensation units (FCU) are computed by total hours (lecture lab clinical) identified on the approved course outline for a given course divided by eleven 11. Associate faculty pay is computed by multiplying the faculty compensation unit rate by the number of faculty compensation units.
The current FCU rate for 202425 at Step A is $1052.00 (includes I732 COLA of 5.87 for 202425 plus an additional highdemand stipend. This stipend is contingent upon the continuation of the HB2158 legislative funding and the amount dispersed to the college by the State Board. The College has a negotiated faculty wage scale in which placement on the salary structure is in accordance with the SVC Federation of Teachers Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Conditions of Employment:- Prior to employment a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
