Are you ready to make a real impact on traffic safety and mobility In this dynamic role you will work collaboratively while taking the lead in analyzing crash data and traffic patterns to identify innovative Traffic Engineering solutions that enhance roadway safety in your community. You will collaborate with team members on critical traffic studiesincluding speed and volume analysis level of service (LOS) delay and queuing calculationswhile preparing datadriven recommendations for traffic control measures like signage and pavement markings.
Beyond analysis you will play a key role in securing Federal funding for safety and mobility projects. Engaging with stakeholders you will provide expert guidance on traffic safety shaping the future of transportation in Maricopa County. This position reports to the Assistant Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO) Division Manager offering a unique opportunity to grow and influence roadway improvements that directly impact the community.

We Require
Two years of professional analytical experience
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Public Administration or a closely related field
A combination of postsecondary education and/or jobrelated experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a yearforyear basis
We Also Value
One or more years experience working with vehicular crash data
One or more years of experience working with analyzing vehicular speed and volume data
Familiar with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
Experience in utilizing a datadriven approach to finding Traffic Engineering solutions
Experience in working in Transporation Engineering
Familiar with Traffic Engineering Safety countermeasures
Proficient in MS Excel performing complex calculations and data representation
Proficient in Synchro Highway Capacity Software (HCS) and other Traffic Engineering capacity analysis software
Experience in writing technical reports
Strong verbal communication skills
Solutions minded approach
Job Contributions
Analyze crash statistics to identify trends patterns and contributing factors to identify Traffic Engineering countermeasures to enhance safety and reduce crashes.
Compile traffic engineering data collected by other Division team members including traffic volumes and speeds and conduct analysis including traffic control warrant analysis using Excel Synchro HCS and other Traffic Engineering capacity analysis software and tools
Prepare comprehensive reports stating the findings and recommendations for new or modified traffic control measures such as signage pavement markings and other roadway safety enhancements. Effectively communicate to stakeholders
Conduct level of service (LOS) delay and queuing calculations to assess roadway performance and identify potential congestion or safety concerns. The findings support roadway design traffic signal optimization and traffic engineering project planning with the goal of enhancing traffic flow and overall safety
Support the TSMO Division Leadership team in developing Federal funding applications for Traffic Engineering projects aimed at improving safety and mobility. Responsibilities include project scoping cost estimation ensuring project alignment with TSMO Division objectives and managing the timely submission of applications. Additionally facilitate coordination between various TSMO Division working groups to streamline the application process and enhance project success
Engage with internal teams external stakeholders and the general public providing clear and informed technical expertise on traffic safety matters

Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities the employee may be exposed to loud noise noxious odors unsanitary conditions chemicals electricity moving mechanical parts varying weather conditions and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes odors dust mists gases or poor ventilation
