The Joint Intelligence and Security (JIS) Division under the leadership of the Assistant Secretary General (ASG) for Intelligence and Security comprises two principal pillars: Intelligence headed by the Deputy ASG for Intelligence; and the NATO Office of Security (NOS) headed by the Deputy ASG for Security (DASGS) / Director NOS.
The NOS is responsible for the overall coordination of NATO security among member Nations NATO civil and military bodies as well as International Organisations and Partner countries with which NATO cooperates. It is also responsible for the security of the NATO Headquarters (HQ) its personnel in Brussels abroad on mission and in satellite offices and for the protection of the Secretary General. The NOS comprises the Office of the Director the Security and Policy Oversight Branch (SPOB) the Protective Security and Emergency Services Branch (PSESB) the Security Intelligence Branch (SIB) and the Close Protection Unit (CPU).
The PSESBs mission is to ensure the security and safety of the NATO HQ its people infrastructure and information. In coordination with the Host Nation it analyses threats and vulnerabilities determines risks and acts to minimise them. Its staff works in the following domains: access management; security regulations and infractions; physical security; security guarding; fire first aid and CBRN; emergency procedures; information assurance; security awareness and special events (highlevel meetings at the NATO HQ and in NATO member and partner nations). It also provides advice on protective security issues in the NATO satellite offices.
Within the Operations Section of the PSESB the incumbent works as part of the HQ Security Force and is responsible for carrying out security duties connected with the protection (personnel infrastructure and information) of the NATO HQ in Brussels. Under the supervision of the Head HQ Security Force the incumbent is responsible for:
verifying the operational readiness of HQ Security Force teams;
supervising the daytoday activities of the HQ Security Force and civilian guarding contractor as directed by the Head HQ Security Force;
the implementation of the instructions issued by the Planning Office or the Headquarters Security Officer;
conducting daily records of the contractors services recording and accounting for the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on the existing contract and providing a monthly report of these data. He/she presents the results of these records during regular meetings organised with the contractor.
The incumbent also ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures as well as other relevant instructions and orders are developed implemented timely and appropriately and maintained uptodate as necessary for the optimal functioning of the unit either on their own initiative or as directed by PSESB management. The coordinator deputises for the head in cases of absence.

Planning and
As directed by the Head HQ Security Force ensure and verify the operational readiness of all teams by closely coordinating with the JISD/NOS/PSESB/OPS/Planning Office and executing operational instructions efficiently required for NAC activities ministerial summits and other highlevel meetings as well as for other NATO meetings. This includes presenting new directives to be validated by the PSESB management maintaining alignment with NATO security procedures and ensuring the HQ Security Force and the contractor adhere to the established protocols.
Project Management
Identify and use resources wisely efficiently and effectively. Review project performance of own projects as directed. Identify opportunities for improvement. Manage ongoing security projects overseeing daily operational tasks and tracking the performance of the contractor. Maintain detailed records monitors KPIs and prepares monthly reports that inform regular review meetings ensuring that all projects progress as planned and adjustments are made in a timely manner.
Stakeholder Management
Under the supervision of the Head HQ Security Force maintain good working relationships with the civilian security contractors managers and stay current on hostnation legislation and practice regarding private security companies. Facilitate seamless communication among various operational and administrative functions. Manage the pool of Inspectors and coordinates with the external contractors management ensuring the alignment with NATO security procedures and ensuring the HQ Security Force and the contractor adhere to the established protocols.
Organisational Efficiencies
Under the direction of the Head HQ Security Force work with relevant stakeholders to find ways for continuous improvement in administrative processes and operational workflows within the HQ Security Force. Support the updating of all necessary instructions and protocols thereby streamlining operations and enhancing overall efficiency of the unit. This includes ensuring that all operational data and communications are accurate and uptodate. The incumbent verifies that all instructions are correctly communicated to the HQSF Teams and the contractors staff when necessary.
People Management
Under the direction and oversight of the Head HQ Security Force oversee the daytoday activities of security personnel. This responsibility includes fostering a collaborative work environment and maintaining high performance through regular communication and support.
Financial Management
Support the Head HQ Security Force as required in coordination with the JISD/NOS/PSESB/OPS/Planning Office. Assist in the financial oversight of operational activities by tracking contractor services and managing related administrative tasks. This includes ensuring in coordination with the JISD Front Office and the Budget Officer in particular that the costeffectiveness of security operations is maintained through accurate record keeping monitoring KPIs and contributing to budgetrelated discussions as needed.
4. INTERRELATIONSHIPS
The incumbent reports to the Head HQ Security Force and acts as their deputy in cases of absence. They manage the Inspectors and liaise with the JISD/NOS/PSESB/OPS/Planning Office and other staff within PSESB as well as with the JISD Front Office as required. They also liaise closely with the civilian contract management staff.
