The Thurston County Assessors Office is seeking a professional motivated and dependable candidate for the position of Administrative Assistant I to join our position is responsible for providing specific administrative and technical support to an office which generally requires the employee to spend a significant amount of time performing work that is considered outside the scope of clerical support. Methods of accomplishing tasks are usually the responsibility of the employee with work reviewed only periodically.
Essential functions may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide specific administrative and/or technical support within a Department/Office.
- May serve as a primary contact for specific program information related to the function of the programs and independently makes decisions regarding daytoday to assure that the program is following applicable the public regarding program matters.
- Research and draft recommendations of procedures products or services and activities within the Department/Office or specific services or programs with other agencies.
- Monitor budget activity and/or financial records; compiles data and prepares estimates statements statistical reports billings and other business reports.
- May serve as the primary staff to a board or commission. Schedule meetings and events determine agendas and supporting materials prepares minutes and other reports and independently conducts followup assignments as requested.
- Perform research and compile databases and other programs to track and analyze information and prepares materials for presentations as needed.
- Handle inquiries and requests by citizens the Commissioners Office or other departments.
- Serves as a point of contact for requests information gathering and in resolving complaints or requests.
- Performs miscellaneous duties requested by the projects between staff members and follows up with staff on issues/projects on behalf of the Director.
- May perform any of the tasks assigned to the Office Assistant classification series.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Full time inoffice position.
- Scheduled shift: MondayFriday 8:00am 5:00pm with a onehour lunch break.
- Workstation is primarily at your desk but also sits/stands throughout the day for different tasks.
- May interact with the public other departments vendor etc. via computer telephone or inperson.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED and one year of college level coursework in office support general business or another closely related field.
- Three years of general office experience with at least two years in a senior level office support position which includes experience independently coordinating projects and creating complex documents and reports.Additional experience may substitute college education year for year.
- Ability to use computer equipment and related software programs is required.
- A current Washington State Drivers License may be required.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of office management and work organization.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze complex office problems and develop and recommend solutions.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with superiors subordinates other organizations and the general public.
