Job Summary:
Qualified healthcare provider trained in assisting with endoscopic procedures clean and disinfects endoscopy scopes and as needed transports patients to and from the department.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

Essential Functions: The following are essential job accountabilities and performance criteria:
Position Accountabilities
1 Competence: Demonstrates knowledge of job standards when working.
Criteria
A. Assist in other endoscopic procedures (i.e. ICU cases etc.
B. Clean and process dirty endoscopes.
C. Able to operate all equipment necessary to complete job.
D. Ensures all supplies are available for patient care.
E. Assist with tracking inventory in hospital inventory system IMMS ordering supplies and storing of all inventory.
F. Responds to decrease in workload by assisting in Holding/Recovery transporting patients to and from the department to the front entrance for discharge changing bed linens and or turning procedure rooms over to accommodate next patient.
G. Display positive attitude to support teambuilding by demonstrating enthusiasm for nonroutine and or extra duties.
H. Actively seeks ways to develop skills locally as well as through the hospital sponsored inservices.
2 Collaboration: Demonstrates attitude of cooperation when working.

3 Safety/Infection Control: Maintains established departmental policies and procedures adheres to quality safety environmental and infection control standards.
Criteria
A) Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous wastes per established guidelines.
B) Cleans equipment prior to storage in proper place.
C) Maintains storage areas in endoscopy.
D) Maintains a safe clean working area.
E) Inspects area daily for compliance with policies procedures regulations and standards.
F) Places work orders for repair of equipment.
G) Reports environmental hazards and needed repairs appropriately.
H) Wears proper endoscopy attire.
I) Assumes responsibility for completing all annual mandatory requirements.
J) Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
4 Care and Courtesy: Maintains harmonious relationship with coworkers and customers providing support and assistance.

D) Minimizes overtime by not clocking in early unless requested to do so.

G) When not in procedure seek out opportunities to improvement environment by removing clutter washing down carts counting supplies for accuracy and assisting in Holding/Recovery.
H) Asks for assistance when necessary and offers to assist coworkers willingly.
I) Demonstrates pride in the physical appearance of the hospital keeping all areas neat and clean.

Criteria
A) Demonstrates knowledge and skills of normal growth & development necessary to provide services to the age of the patient served by the department.
B) Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret age specific data to identify patient needs.
C) Utilizes communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses to service and interaction.
D) Involves family or significant other in decision making related to services provided.
E) Demonstrates ability to provide service needed for the age groups routinely served by the department assigned.
9 Quality Improvement (QI): Incorporates Quality Assessment into ones daily work.
Criteria
A) Assists in developing unitbased QI plan.
B) Assists in collecting QI data as assigned.
C) Participates in discussion of QI outcome.
10 Specialized Care: Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury.
A) Abuse Assessment
1 Is aware of abuse recognition criteria and incorporates it into assessments.
2 Reports signs of possible abuse/neglect to the physician & Risk Management and recommends appropriate consultations (psychiatric Social Work) for evaluation.

Job Specifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School graduate preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None required
REQUIRED COURSES: BLS
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to travel to and between Endoscopy rooms as well as the Radiology department. May be required to wear protective clothing such as masks gowns and gloves in addition to adhering to the department dress code. Regularly exposed to body fluids with potential exposure to bloodborne disease. Must be able to work with electrical equipment. May be exposed to hot/cold materials and chemical agents (see MDS sheets). May be exposed to latex.
SOCIAL CONDITIONS: Must be able to work alone with others and around others. May meet individuals who may behave or speak in an aggressive hostile threatening or confused manner. Cognitive Demands: Must be able to work independently and in groups in a quiet or distractible environment on a structured or unstructured task. Must have good organization planning reasoning judgment problem solving safety awareness skills and cognitive flexibility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to tolerate prolonged extensive or considerable sitting standing and walking. Must be able to transfer adult patients who require maximal assistance. Must be able to carry heavy equipment 20 pounds) and supplies. Must be able to maneuver a wheelchair or stretcher to complete their job task. Must be able to tolerate considerable reaching bending squatting and kneeling to retrieve equipment and perform patient treatment. Must be able to read and write. Must be able to communicate information in a manner appropriate for intended audience. Must have manual dexterity and mobility.
