The Machinist Intern will be empowered with assignments that provide them with experience and significant opportunities for learning under general supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules regulations and JSAs
- Assist with a wide range of tasks including using hand tools such as drills sers and files or machine tools such as lathes and milling machines.
- Assist in operating CNC and manual machining equipment under supervision.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints technical drawings and schematics.
- Support machinists in setting up and maintaining machines and tools.
- Measure and inspect machined parts using calipers micrometers and other precision tools.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery and work areas.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in troubleshooting and problemsolving during the machining process.
- Keep accurate records of completed work and materials used.
- Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency and production quality.
- Learn and apply industry best practices in machining and manufacturing.
- Keep working areas clean.
- Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelors degree program or pursuing relevant certificates
- Skills:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Basic understanding of machining principles and tools
- Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers micrometers etc.
- Exposure to CNC technology (lathes and milling machines)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from experienced machinists
- Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test postoffer preemployment physical and background check.
- Having housing and transportation none will be provided
