Job Summary
Faculty and instructors are responsible for curriculum teaching service scholarship and related administrative activities that support the mission vision and values of the university.
The College of Arts and Humanities at Lindenwood University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Bands).
Qualified applicants will possess a terminal degree (PhD DMA or equivalent in a closely related field; ABD candidates will be considered) in Music with specialization in instrumental music bands or closely related subdiscipline. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the equivalent of 4 courses 12 credit hours) each semester within the music curriculum as well as bandrelated coursework (see below for more information). Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching online. All Lindenwood faculty members are expected to advise and mentor students continue to develop their expertise through research and scholarship and participate in faculty governance and campus life.
The Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Bands) is a fulltime 9month faculty position that will begin August 14 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
The Lindenwood University Lion Pride Marching Band and Pep Band directly support the universitys NCAA D1 athletics gameday experience (including selected football games as well as selected mens and womens basketball games) and represent the university in the broader community through parades exhibitions and other performances. The Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Bands) will also conduct the Universitys Wind Ensemble and engage in other teaching opportunities based on area of expertise and experience. Half of this positions teaching responsibilities will be committed to band duties and recruitment which will include course releases.
The successful applicant will be a missiondriven team player with a vision for growth in both the size and impact of Lindenwoods athletic bands and the experience to accomplish that vision. They will also be an accomplished musician and instructor eager to provide students in Lindenwoods instrumental music program with an excellent education and learning experience.
