The Ultrasound Technologists performs examinations according to established protocols. The Ultrasound Technologists demonstrates an understanding of human cross sectional anatomy physiology pathology and medical terminology. The Ultrasound Technologists maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and imaging technique. The Ultrasound Technologists supports the mission of the hospital and department by excellent customer relations skills.
Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination being performed including correct patient identification and order verification
Assess patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure
Performs pre and post exam patient education pertinent to exam being performed
Produces scans according to established protocols within the Diagnostic Imaging Department with a high degree of accuracy
Evaluates finished images for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality
Discusses technical findings with Radiologist
Ensures examinations are complete to include Cerner completion and PACS review
Instructs Radiology Residents and students in the Ultrasound scanning protocols (depending on facility)
Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities
Education:
Graduated from accredited US program (required)
Experience:
3 years prior ultrasound experience (preferred)
Licensure:
ARDMS or within 1 year of hire date (required)
One specialty area i.e. abdomen vascular OBGYN) (required)
Certification:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (required)
