Events Officer

As an Events Officer in the Museums and Collections Department youll play a crucial role in delivering key events and managing thirdparty bookings across the Universitys prestigious cultural venues. Youll gain invaluable experience in endtoend event management from client liaison to onsite coordination while contributing to the Universitys strategic cultural goals. This role offers you the chance to work in a collaborative environment engaging with diverse stakeholders and shaping Melbournes cultural landscape.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and Delivering Key Events: Work with internal stakeholders to organise events and activations across Museums & Collections venues aligning with departmental priorities.
  • Managing ThirdParty Bookings: Provide comprehensive customer service for space hire including generating quotes conducting site visits and managing client budgets.
  • Coordinating Event Operations: Liaise with internal teams to ensure highquality event delivery including booking staff and managing venue preparations.
  • Maintaining Efficient Systems: Administer bookings using event management software maintain accurate records and contribute to process improvements.

You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced events professional with strong organisational skills excellent customer service and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic cultural environment.

You may also:

  • Have experience in the events industry with the ability to lead teams and deliver on goals.
  • Possess strong administrative skills including managing client financials and maintaining accurate records.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Have a customerfocused approach and commitment to delivering highquality outcomes.
  • Be proficient in using booking and scheduling systems.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The Museums and Collection Department aims to build a collaborative and flexible network around the Universitys cultural assets to enable students staff members local and global communities to gain knowledge and understanding of contemporary and traditional cultures scientific discovery and creative practice.

The objectives of the Department are as follows:

The Department sits within the Strategy and Culture Division of The University of Melbourne which includes Policy and Government Relations; University Governance; Strategy Planning and Performance; Community and Cultural Partnerships; Marketing and Communications; and HR & OHS. The VicePresident (Strategy and Culture) works closely with the deans and other members of the Universitys.
