Job Description

Description of Work


The Printing Equipment Operator plays a key role in the production and distribution of printed materials for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This position is responsible for operating highvolume fulfillment equipmentincluding folder and insertion systemsto produce prepare and deliver essential communications to clients county Departments of Social Services (DSS) and vendors. Working within the DHHS IT Printing Operations Section the operator ensures that mass mailings reports and disbursements are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of print quality and operational continuity.

Under the guidance of IT Operations Technicians the Printing Equipment Operator supports both production and quality control functions. This includes monitoring equipment performance scheduling workloads restocking supplies and addressing technical issues promptly to minimize downtime. The role is wellsuited for individuals with experience in printtomail environments and a commitment to maintaining precision consistency and service timeliness across highvolume outputs.

Key Duties Included:
  • Operate folder and insertion systems for fulfillment of DHHS printing and mailing jobs.

  • Perform daily setup monitoring and maintenance on equipment to ensure uninterrupted production.

  • Follow established procedures to meet scheduled production deadlines and service levels.

  • Collaborate with management to schedule and prioritize print workloads across shifts.

  • Monitor print quality isolate damaged output and initiate reprints as needed.

  • Ensure production accuracy by checking materials against specifications.

  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions and place service calls to minimize delays.

  • Maintain inventory of inserting supplies and restock as necessary to support production flow.

  • Provide support on various reports and workloads during peak periods or special requests.

  • Adhere to safety and operational protocols in a secure printing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience operating Pitney Bowes Flexible Productivity Series 9 Inserter.

  • Documented experience operating Pitney Bowes Rival Inserter.

  • Proven experience with a printtomail operation preferably in a highvolume production environments.
