General Description:
Under the direction of the Legislative Auditor this position is responsible for managing the Divisions digital media communications recruiting hiring onboarding and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate is a person who likes to interact with people and is comfortable initiating conversations and establishing relationships. The digital media responsibilities for this position are new and the successful applicant will work with subject matter experts information technology staff and contractors as determined necessary to create maintain and update effective digital media communication platforms (such as LinkedIn) to meet the Divisions goals. This position requires both technical and communication skills and serves as a member of the Divisions administrative team. The successful candidate must display excellent attendance and ability to work effectively under pressure.

Travel may be required as needed (approximately 15 nights a year)

Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
  • Lead the recruitment efforts for all Division positions create and post job announcements screen and interview candidates conduct reference checks extend job offers conduct orientation for new employees and monitor the careerpath training program.
  • Develop recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleges and universities to help identify and contact qualified applicants.
  • Schedule and attend job/career fairs to help identify and contact qualified applicants.
  • Provide information on Division operations and job opportunities to potential applicants.
  • Oversee the internship program including organizing responsibilities for interns hiring interns and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain records of recruiting activities as required.
  • Maintain position descriptions.
  • Schedule and facilitate team building activities.
  • Schedule and track training for audit staff.
  • Oversee division evaluation process.
  • Organize and oversee the Divisions annual training conference.
  • Create and administer surveys in coordination with senior audit staff.
  • Track needed policy updates.
  • Serve as liaison with marketing contractor to help facilitate updates to division webpage and other communication formats.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully work with multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy on detailoriented tasks.

  • Ability to interpret and enforce rules and regulations with firmness tact and impartiality.
  • Familiarity with electronic publishing and digital media applications (WordPress and Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Acrobat Premiere Pro Illustrator Photoshop InDesign etc..
  • Experience with common office productivity software (Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Office Suite etc..
  • Ability to perform a variety of technical and specialized tasks in a competent and timely manner.
  • Ability to act professionally objectively and impartially in dealing with Division staff other State employees and the public.
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to and meeting timeframes that at times may be pressing.
  • Experience and ability to work on a team or committee to accomplish organizationlevel goals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Skill in analyzing complex issues and situations drawing logical conclusions and proposing viable solutions and courses of action.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with college professors and administrative staff managers operating agencies employees and potential employees.
  • Ability to create and administer surveys.
  • Ability to foster positive work environment and deal with conflict in a professional manner.

Distinguishing Characteristics
  • This is a fully exempt class under Alaska Statute 39.25.1103.
  • Positions in the Division of Legislative Audit are required to be politically neutral.
  • Currently we are not providing visa employer sponsorships.

Minimum Qualifications

Excellent writing interpersonal leadership and problem solving skills are required. Must have a valid drivers license.

A bachelors degree from an accredited college with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and a major in business management public administration marketing operations management or a field that is closely related to the occupational area associated with the position to be filled;

AND

One year of professional experience in an occupation that would provide knowledge of the principles practices techniques and theory of the business or operational area associated with the position to be filled.

OR

Four years of experience in an operational area associated with the position to be filled.
