ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s):
Manage the Facilities Management vehicle fleet (both university owned and leased).
Perform maintenance and repairs on small engines and drive trains to include engine overhauls ignition/engine/transmission failure diagnosis and electrical systems diagnosis and repair.
Manage and schedule preventive maintenance activities for campus emergency generators and perform corrective repairs as may be necessary.
Establish and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all vehicles and equipment.
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of all equipment and supplies.
Maintain an organized and clean shop.
Maintain records of work performed.
Willing to work weekends and/or after normal business hours to accomplish the necessary tasks.
Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required. Vocational school or apprenticeship training postgraduation is preferred.
Associates degree or two 2 years of formal technical trade school education is preferred.
Experience:
One 1 year of experience in small engine repair and equipment maintenance or related mechanical work experience required.
Two 2 plus years of experience in current automotive maintenance preferred.
Demonstrated experience with welding and brazing techniques is preferred
Communication/Language:
Basic: Ability to read listen to and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write and communicate simple correspondence. Excellent oral communication skills are required.
Math Ability:
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
Computer Skills:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Gmail Google and Outlook.
Familiarity with CMMS applications
Experience with ADP time keeping system desirable.
Certificates & Licenses:
Valid United States drivers license required.
Other Requirements:
Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment (both gasoline and diesel) and automotive apparatuses.
Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine the appropriate maintenance work.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Skills in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools.
Ability to weld and gas torch brazing.
Ability to work as a selfmotivator as well as a team member
Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively within leadership technician and client audiences.
Ability to produce a quality work product in a prompt safe and efficient manner.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to problem solve.
Ability to work without supervision and shift work priorities; deal appropriately with multiple deadlines.

Work is primarily shops spaces garages etc. however occasionally outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
