Job Description
Underthe direction of the Pharmaceutical Services Director the Retail Pharmacy Manager is responsible for allareas of retail pharmaceutical services for MMC including the procurementdistribution storage and administration of by appropriate staff. The Retail Pharmacy Manager ensures thatpharmacy services of MMC are in compliance with all State and Federalregulations. General Competencies: 1. Always demonstrates a positive workingrelationship with patients visitors and facility staff. 3. Demonstrates organizational ability andtime management. 4. Produces deliverable products on timewithin budget and with minimal direction. 5. Demonstratesthe ability to compile and organize data using Microsoft OfficeApplications. Ability to makeappropriate recommendations or conclusions given the data obtained. 6. Maintainsan organized set of records delivers records immediately upon request for thefunctions that are performed within the scope of this job. 7. Communicatesappropriately respectfully and clearly to directors managers and coworkers. Accepts direction as provided withoutquestioning authority within the chain of command. 8. Performsall assigned tasks accurately. 9. Takesdirection from others to include those employees of other departments withwhich he/she works on a temporary basis in accordance with the chain ofcommand. 10. Demonstratesability to effectively use office machines in the performance of job functions. 11. Answersphone calls assists public and forwards appropriately if necessary in aprofessional and friendly manner. 12. Current BLS Certification and Certified Immunizer SpecificCompetencies: 1. Compoundsand dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals forpatient care. 2. Reviewsprescriptions issued by Physician or other authorized prescriber to ensure accuracyand determine formulas and ingredients needed. 3. Directspharmacy workers engaged in mixing packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals. 4. Answersquestions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactionsside effects dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals if counseling offer isaccepted. 5. Activelyengages patients and clients with respect to customer service programs offeredby the pharmacy. 6. Activelyengages patients and clients with respect to program integrations offered bythe pharmacy. 7. Maintainsestablished procedures concerning quality assurance security of controlledsubstances and disposal of hazardous waste . 8. Enters datasuch as patient name prescribed medication and cost to maintain pharmacyfiles charge system and inventory. 9. Instructsinterns and other pharmacy personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy andmaintains correct pharmacist to technician and pharmacist to intern ratios perstate/federal law. 10. Maintains awareness of third partyRx systems and resolves third party rejection problems promptly. 11. Reports prescription errorsimmediately and adheres to company policy regarding medication incidents. 12. Maintains awareness of lossprevention controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss. 13. Develops and maintains a goodworking relationship with physicians and other health care professionals inorder to better assist the customer. 14. Synthesizes complex or diverseinformation; uses intuition and experience to complement data. 16. Manages difficult or emotionalcustomer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customerfeedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meetscommitments; maintains confidentiality. 17. Maximizes sales and controls expenses in the retail pharmacy 18. Ensures currency and consistency of pharmacy policies. 19. Writes clearly and informatively; able to read and interpret written information. 20. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit. 21. Communicates changes effectively; able to deal with frequent change delays or unexpected events. 22. Understands business implications of decisions; contributes to profits and revenue; conserves organizational resources. 23. Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; ensures daily housekeeping cleanliness and sanitation program as established within company guidelines. 24. Other duties may be assigned (may include technicianrelated duties depending on available staff).
