Job Description

At The Reject Shop were passionate about helping Australians save moneyand were growing fast. With a national network of over 390 stores our Legal and Corporate Governance team plays a vital role in supporting the business.

We are now looking for a paralegal or legal counsel to join our inhouse legal team. If youre highly organised enjoy variety and want to be close to the operations of a leading national discount variety retailer this could be the opportunity for you.

What you will do

Reporting to the Corporate Counsel you will provide legal and administrative support across property customer claims supplier agreements and compliance. This is a handson broad role for someone who enjoys managing stakeholder relationships and delivering highquality legal work with a commercial focus.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing reviewing and negotiating leasing documents (agreements renewals options closures)
  • Liaising with landlords property managers and external legal providers
  • Supporting public liability claims management including coordinating incident reports and CCTV retrieval
  • Managing routine legal matters and correspondence
  • Supporting supplier agreement onboarding and reviewing contracts via Checkbox
  • Contributing to legal and compliance initiatives across the business

What you will bring

  • Minimum two years experience in a paralegal legal assistant or junior legal counsel role (inhouse or private practice)
  • Experience in property leasing or retail law is highly desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts in practical terms
  • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail
  • Confidence dealing with internal stakeholders and external legal providers
  • A collaborative mindset initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort with legal systems or platforms (Checkbox experience a bonus)
