Job Description
Our client a leading construction sector Manufacturing company based in Port Shepstone is looking to fill the position of Production Planner.
Purpose of the Role:
The successful candidate will report to the Production Manager and will be responsible for maintaining the statistical database compiling all production statistics and reports and monitoring and reconciling production stock including raw materials Work in Progress (WIP) and finished goods. This will be necessary for weekly monthend and yearend reporting. Additionally the candidate will be tasked with the timely sourcing of all raw materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Reports:
- Prepare daily monthly and yearly production reports as well as any additional reports when required.
- Coordinate SAP reports and inputs for the entire production line from quarry to production.
- Assist in consolidating the monthend closing.
Material Stock Management:
- Order and purchase all raw materials including grinding media fuels alternative fuels and coprocessing materials and record these transactions in SAP.
- Monitor daily variances between physical inventory and SAP records notifying the Production Manager of any sudden deviations.
- Conduct daily stock counts and update the stock in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) file.
Information Management:
- Provide plant production information as requested by management other branches and head office.
- Coordinate benchmarking information for presentation at monthly technical management meetings and other relevant gatherings.
Production Planning:
- Plan all production activities to meet production and sales targets.
Profitability Management:
- Prepare production budgets and cost reports including stock reconciliation.
- Support production shifts as needed to optimize output and sales.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- National Diploma in Production/Industrial Management Chemical/Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain or Project Management is advantageous.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning or process control within the Cement Manufacturing or Mining industry.
- Experience with factory loading and capacity management.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Analytical and logical thinker.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in planning and production preferably in heavy engineering is advantageous.
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Excel; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across the organization.
- Capable of writing and presenting reports.
