Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software hardware and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers that move many millions of units of inventory employ tens of thousands of people and ensure that customers get what they want when we promised we would get it to them.

Our environment is global and complex with a variety of software and systems that powers Amazon fulfillment centers. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of Amazon customer orders. We build solutions using realtime events and data cloud based distributed systems. Our technology choices include various AWS products machine learning and data analytics to build our strategic platforms.

We are looking for a talented Software Development manager to join our fulfillment launch team in Amazon Fulfillment Technology. As a Software Manager you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across geographical locations to drive and deliver key aspects of technology solution definition and validation.
Full cycle product development experience from inception through maturity is important. Working simultaneously on projects in different phases is common; you are able to demonstrate strong design and validation skills in addition to the understanding of mechanics of ongoing operational excellence and product support. You are responsive flexible a great mentor to your team and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.


Key job responsibilities
Recruit manage and lead a world class team of software and system developer engineers with focus on end to end product development.
Make high judgment decisions on how to accomplish and prioritize among new features operational efficiency improvements software resiliency and reliability initiatives.
Lead by example and foster technical innovation within the team through design reviews process improvements identifying technical bottlenecks and encouraging measured risk taking when providing solutions..
Strategically develop software and metrics to enable strong data driven approaches for key business decisions

5 years of engineering team management experience
10 years of engineering experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
