The Data Center Engineering team owns the availability of AWS data centers and has a direct impact on the customer experience. As a Data Engineering Manager you will play a thought leadership role in our team the team will look to you for advice on analytical and business issues facing them. You work very efficiently and routinely deliver the right things. You will have a orgwide view of the analytical solutions that you build and you will consistently think in terms of automating or expanding the results orgwide. This high impact role will have an opportunity to lead a team to help design and build our data infrastructure from the ground up while driving business intelligence solutions endtoend: business requirements workflow instrumentation data modeling ETL metadata reporting and dashboard development. You are an expert at designing implementing and operating stable scalable low cost solutions for our end users. The role requires someone who loves data has strong technical skills has a strong business sense and can lead a team to put these skills into action.

The ideal candidate will have a strong bias toward data driven decision making and building scalable data pipelines and systems to facilitate such decision making. They will be comfortable with ambiguity; able to think big and be creative while exercising strong judgment and good instincts to be right a lot. They are motivated by delivering highquality and innovative solutions within timeframes that most think are impossible. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and were looking for talented people who want to help.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include:

Conduct deep dive investigations into business problems and identify potential opportunities
Support and challenge your team to meet critical milestones
Lead the design implement and support a scalable and reliable infrastructure for Data Center Engineering BI and Analysis to drive key business decisions
Develop reports and dashboards using various technologies to allow internal teams to understand issues and identify actions to be taken to solve these issues
Own the design development and maintenance of ongoing metrics reports analyses dashboards etc. to drive key business decisions.
Conduct deep dive analyses of business problems and formulate conclusions and recommendations to be presented to senior leadership.
Identify ways to automate analysis through smarter software systems

2 years of processing data with a massively parallel technology (such as Redshift Teradata Netezza Spark or Hadoop based big data solution) experience
2 years of relational database technology (such as Redshift Oracle MySQL or MS SQL) experience
2 years of developing and operating largescale data structures for business intelligence analytics (using ETL/ELT processes) experience
5 years of data engineering experience

Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop Hive Spark EMR
Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift S3 EC2
Experience managing a data or BI team
Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing
Experience leading and influencing the data or BI strategy of your team or organization
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python Java Scala or NodeJS
