BCBA Job Description

Position: Learning Project Team Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Term: 9 Months

Classification: Classified/Exempt

Location: District Wide

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or higher in applied behavior analysis psychology special education or a related field.
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Knowledge of principles ethics and applied behavior analysis techniques positive behavior support and evidencebased interventions for individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.
  • Experience working with students in a public school setting or similar educational environment.

Chosen candidates will be expected to apply for and maintain a valid MO Substitute Teaching Certification.

This position is expected to direct the work of staff who help implement The Learning Project which may include but is not limited to paraprofessionals Behavior Interventionists and Behavior Specialists. This position will directly supervise two employees on The Learning Project Team.

Reports to: Director of Student Services

(in consultation with The Learning Project Team Coordinator)

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will provide behavioral analysis and intervention services to students with autism spectrum disorders developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges in the public school setting. The BCBA will work collaboratively with teachers parents and other professionals to develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans to support students academic and behavioral goals.

  • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes.
  • Ensures that all activities conform to district and state guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Learning Project Team BCBA will work closely with staff members including other Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to collaborate on traumainformed practices behavior intervention and crisis plans all while maintaining a special focus on proactive strategies and building replacement skills with students.

LPT BCBA can expect to:

  • Connect with BCBA colleagues and LPT paraprofessionals on a regular basis.
  • Be deployed to elementary school buildings to support students needs and collaborate with team members on proactive strategies to grow the skill sets of students.
  • Support students with skills involving expression of emotions tolerating challenging tasks transitioning between activities making mistakes accepting feedback and using coping skills.
  • Work alongside team members to assist students with deescalation strategies and brainstorming approaches built into behavior support plans.
  • Gather data and documentation to monitor the progress of interventions.
  • Support students needs in 1on1 and small group settings in and outside of the general education classroom and provide ongoing training and professional development for team members.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to school staff on behavior intervention and data collection through facilitated meetings as well as inthemoment modeling coaching and feedback.
  • Provide and document needed supervision for BCaBAs and RBTs working within The Learning Project Team.
  • Stay uptodate with current research best practices and ethical guidelines in the field of applied behavior analysis to maintain efficacy and active certification.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift 50 pounds
  • Frequently walk up and down stairs while assisting students
  • Frequently walk on a variety of ground surfaces including but not limited to paved gravel grass or dirt
  • Frequently bend and twist the torso and neck
  • Frequently squat or kneel to the ground
  • Frequently use repetitive arm wrist and hand movements
  • Use close distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perception

Conditions and Environment

The conditions and environment reflect that of an intensive special education classroom setting. Candidates should expect to be flexible with the presence of loud sounds physical movement and some crisis response. Candidates will be expected to follow safety plans and use provided safety equipment and abide by board policies regarding seclusion & restraint.
