The Specialist Quality is an important team member that will plan and facilitate quality improvement initiatives/projects in various disease sites as well as play a key role in the implementation of other province wide projects to advance surgical oncology care delivery across Ontario. This role works closely with the clinical Quality lead and program staff and is primary contact for multiple provincial clinical working group members.
This is an important and rewarding role that influences building a culture of quality improvement across Ontario.
Here is what you will be doing:
Planning and facilitating projects to develop quality improvement strategies and foster cancer surgery initiatives. This includes working closely with clinical experts conducting needs assessments and surveys performing literature reviews and environmental scans developing education and evaluation tools and contributing to presentations and publications relating to the projects.
Facilitating in all aspects of project management such as identifying and effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders managing project documentation driving agendas and providing input in a collaborative setting to develop and implement strategies to foster quality improvement.
Provide support for Multidisciplinary Cancer Conference (MCC) program including performance data capture and review etc
Supports meetings for the SOP which includes conducting research for meetings developing reports and presentations coordinating logistics corresponding with meeting participants leading meetings and/or participating in meetings as recorder when required.
Act as a lead and develop subject matter expertise in disease sites of interest.
Working with various stakeholders (subject matter experts providers administrators professional bodies) and working groups to achieve consensus.
Monitoring evidence and conducting jurisdictional scans to understand best practices. Conduct systematic literature reviews.
Identifying issues and risks in a timely manner.
Commitment and willingness to be a team player support colleagues and ensure program goals are accomplished.
Demonstrating and maintaining a positive and creative influence in keeping project momentum moving forward.
Supporting SOP committees other initiatives and other tasks as assigned.
Contribute towards the publication of scholarly articles on SOP activities/initiatives
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Masters degree preferred or Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline (clinical epidemiology health services research business/health administration Sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum three years of overall working experience with a minimum of two years recent experience working within the healthcare sector.
Knowledge of Communities of Practice (clinical) concept performance and evaluation indicator development/measurement
Knowledge of the cancer care system project management best practices in quality improvement and performance management is preferred
Experience leading/enabling small to mediumscale strategic projects preferably related to the cancer surgery field.
Demonstrated successful project management and change management experience.
Experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis including systematic literature reviews.
Experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders to advance the quality agendas.
Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and independently using sound judgment.
Experience organizing and coordinating small and large meetings for various stakeholders
Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust credibility and respect
Knowledge and Skills
Problemsolving and facilitation skills are required.
Excellent communication (written and oral) including developing policies broad communications knowledge transfer tools and project materials
Highly motivated resultsoriented team player.
Excellent interpersonal decisionmaking and facilitation skills
Eagerness to learn about and partner with all regions and departments within the organization to advance the Project objectives
Knowledge of ICD10 and CCI coding and concepts is highly preferred including development of quality indicators using health system administrative databases
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Project Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook SharePoint).
Excellent ability to analyze and interpret complex information to deliver a solution that meets the program needs.
Consults with numerous teams portfolios and stakeholders to examine problems and find innovative solutions to nonroutine problems where information and precedence are not readily available.
Identifies trends and make suggestions for positive change in response to problematic trends.
Must be able to understand the needs of diverse stakeholders in order to develop effective solutions and assess impact of recommendations for change.
