Job Title:EL Teacher Leader Elementary

Anticipated Start Date: no earlier than August 1 2025

Location:Teacher Administrative Center (TAC) 3215 Cuming Street Omaha NE 68131

Reports To: Director K12 English Learner Programs

Work Schedule/FLSA Status:188 duty days 9 additional workdays per negotiated agreement/ Exempt

Salary Schedule:

Step 1 with a masters degree:$57820 5 Teacher Leader variance $2891 $60711

Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience. Placement on the salary schedule will follow the applicablenegotiated agreement.

Position Purpose:The EL Elementary Teacher Leader supports EL teachers and staff and ELs at the elementary level by providing leadership in the development implementation and evaluation of the EL programming to promote student learning and teacher effectiveness. This role will focus on coaching and professional development at the elementary level and include the development of the elementary English Language Development (ELD) curriculum (grades K6 in collaboration with the EL Leadership Team.

The EL Elementary Teacher Leader will work with the Multilingual Learner Teaching and Learning Consultant and other EL and CIS staff to develop curriculum and professional learning based on new and emerging research and application of effective instructional practices for supporting multilingual learners including students with limited formal education.

This individual will make regular coaching visits to assigned buildings to provide support to new and experienced EL teachers. They will also participate in school network teams to support successful continuous school improvement and professional learning cycles.

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment: This position may require the ability to use technology including iPads Apple TVs in addition to basic office equipment such as computers copiers scanners and fax machines. Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.

Travel: Travel between OPS schools and the Central Office will be required. Additional travel to EL related conferences may be required.

Terms of Employment

This position is treated as a fulltime exempt certified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment or teaching in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time and the Teacher Contract. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
