Job Summary
The Clinical Study Assistant will be housed in the University of Utah Department of Internal Medicine Division of Epidemiologys Program for Addiction Research Clinical Care Knowledge and Advocacy PARCKA . Job duties will require interaction with study participants investigators clinic hospital and research staff. The incumbent will work closely with the project coordinators and managers to accomplish study goals and meet timelines per study guidelines. This position is 100 onsite and will mainly be recruiting consenting and enrolling study participants at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. This is a temporary position but may turn into a permanent position pending future funding.

Essential Functions Adheres to all aspects of a protocol complying with regulations and procedures. Explains and obtains informed consent. Conducts research assessments including structured assessments of sensitive topics with highrisk populations. Answers patient queries and maintains research records in compliance with regulations. Determines visit windows from protocol schedules subject visits and sends visit reminders to help retain them in the study and prevent study attrition. Ensures study visits and procedures do not conflict with existing schedules. Review medical records for patient data and complete data entry process for study using various databases. May travel to a variety of sites both within and outside the University campus to obtain data. Attend research meetings with team members and investigators. Problem Solving The incumbent may be required to prioritize tasks received from multiple staff members and determine the order of importance. The incumbent must use discretion and judgement when scheduling appointments and in screening calls. The incumbent may coordinate work processes with other departments community governmental or regulator agencies and must understand the objectives and policies governing the activities of the department and be able to effectively communicate this information to interested parties. Comments Successful completion of CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research Subject and Good Clinical Practices certificates obtained within 2 weeks of hire date. Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Completion of HIPAA Privacy & Security training may be required within two to five days of hire. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. This position is patientsensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
