Title: Elementary Visual Arts Teacher
Location: Southside Elementary
Qualifications: Hold or be able to obtain a valid Arkansas Teaching license in the
area ofVisual Arts.
Reports To:Building Principal
Responsibilities:
- Teach course in Visual Arts utilizing course of study approved by the Siloam Springs School District.
- Teach a balancedVisual Arts curriculum.
- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Understand a variety of art techniques.
- Maintain professional competence through inservice education.
- Knows and has the ability to apply elements of design and modern principles of art.
- Provide individual and smallgroup instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Evaluate each students performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings as well as preparation of progress reports in these areas.
- Select and prepare requisitions of books instructional materials tools instructional aids as well as maintaining required inventory records.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students work for the school and the community.
- Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and/or in selfselected professional growth activities.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by district administration.
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations. This includes maintaining accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
Length of Contract:190 Days
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of staff.
