The Manager Model Development is responsible for generating datadriven insights into all model development needs of the Banks and the practical results of different modeling methodologies. The focus is to help the Banks develop statistical models and risk management processes needed to support the Banks risk profiles. This role takes ownership of models in areas such as CECL Dodd Frank (DFAST) liquidity stress testing and other areas. Additionally this role is responsible for analyzing the effects of different data and modeling methodologies on outcomes. The Manager Model Development will gather and analyze data build models complete statistical testing document and present findings and will require advanced analytical skills.Essential Job Functions
Translate business needs into statistical models and analysis independently by completing the following types of models/analyses; CECL capital models regression modeling time series models panel models cross section models account level models segment level models incorporating MEVs and scenarios clustering and other techniques.
Translate data input needs and gathers data from internal and external sources effectively accurately and in a timely manner. Analyze data for suitability and governance identify any data anomalies and propose solutions to possible data issues based on analysis. Present data analysis in a visual format easily consumable by Business Partners and Management.
Extracts data conducts exploratory data analysis and addresses common data issues like missing and extreme values. Find troubleshoot and conduct the best analytical technique to address the business problem. Document analysis processes and results. Problem solve with technical issues data gathering data access and data analysis.
Maintain regulatory standards by doing the following: Complete all checks on model quality and stability and address potential issues effectively. Aware of potential regulatory concerns and applies controls during modelbuilding process. Create clear and uptodate documentation of all projects. Participate in model reviews to respond to findings.
Check the data and models accuracy demonstrating the data is accurate and model is robust and stable. Assess potential limitations and evaluate the models behavior over a range of input values. Assess the impact of assumptions and identify situations where the model performs poorly or becomes unreliable.
Provides support for outsourced models when the business need arises. Participate in the consulting efforts for the Banks in the following ways: Build strong relationships with internal business partners to help solve business problems. Translate partners business needs into analytics projects and quickly estimate potential benefit anticipate roadblocks and solutions.
Summarize results into key insights that are easy to understand and useful; present key findings and recommended solutions to internal and external business partners. Provide recommendations regarding how to use data science and models to drive critical business decisions. Meet project deadlines.
Manage the team comprising of Analysts and Leads. Responsible for mentorship coaching career planning and ensuring timely delivery of other work items.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Statistics Econometrics Mathematics or Economics with a focus on quantitative methods or related field of study
7 years of experience working in Model Development with focus on time series panel data cross section capital stress testing CECL Treasury Pricing and underwriting modelling
3 years of experience leading project(s) mentoring and/or coaching
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Economics or Statistics
