Role Summary:

Under the general direction of the Collections Manager/Team Leader the Collector II monitors and resolves the delinquency and collection efforts of past due accounts. The Collector II facilitates proper collection procedure of escalated member accounts. Acts as a mentor to less senior Collectors within the Collections department.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Understand and demonstrate the principles of Gesas Mission Vision and Values.
  2. Provide advanced informed professional and accurate assistance and support to all team members and membership.
  3. Contact members via outbound/inbound phone calls and other means of communication to negotiate repayment and/or account resolution. Accurately input and document actions within the collection systems while maintaining company performance and productivity standards.
  4. Followup on late payment notices.
  5. Acts on and accepts escalated calls from less senior team members.
  6. Maximize the collection and/or recovery of Credit Union assets from delinquent and chargedoff accounts.
  7. Maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity.
  8. Adhere to provisions as set forth in the Gesa Collections Policy and all relevant regulations.
  9. Ensure all bankruptcy documentation and communication is referred to the Bankruptcy Specialist in a timely manner.
  10. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
  11. Attend credit union training sessions conferences or seminars as approved by awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
  12. Follow up on accounts in a timely matter according to current procedures.
  13. Analyze the financial situation of delinquent borrowers; make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  14. Assign collateralized loans for repossession to approved agents as well as follow up to ensure timely recovery of property.
  15. Testify at legal proceedings as required.
  16. Stay up to date on trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/chargedoff loans and other pertinent areas which may impact collections.
  17. May be required to support other work queues to facilitate teamwork in the department.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

About You:

  1. Ability to organize prioritize and respond simultaneously to multiple tasks and requests.
  2. Ability to promote a team environment and participate in a cohesive team environment.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information both orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to professionally interact with members and coworkers at all times.
  5. Ability to refer to policy and procedures when applying information and making decisions.

What You Will Need:

  1. Five 5 or more years of similar or related experience.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent.
  3. Some travel is required to complete credit union training and/or fulfill duties.
  4. Valid nonrestricted drivers license.
  5. Display courtesy tact and diplomacy with current and potential members peers and staff.
  6. Proficient with standard office equipment Excel MS Word and Outlook.
