Job Description

As a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (CPNPAC) or Physician Associate with our Hospitalist team youll have the opportunity to care for patients across the HematologyOncology specialty on our inpatient units in conjunction with other APPs nurses and physicians. Covering service time on the inpatient chemotherapy service during the day and taking care of our 17bed inpatient floors at night. This role also crosstrains to cover patients triaged to acute care clinic and any urgent concerns of patients in our infusion center. The nature of this role can be intense and variable and includes a rotating schedule between days and nights weekends and holidays.

Works collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Provides care for patients within the inpatient setting on a chemotherapy service and overnight coverage. Also has time in the acute care clinic setting.

Addresses both acute and chronic issues in managing disease and treatmentrelated complications. Collects documents and analyzes patient data; collaborates in the development and implementation of treatment plans; coordinates patient care with ancillary clinical services; makes appropriate referrals to consulting medical staff; provides followup to referring physicians; may orient or precept students and new staff. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the institution.

**Strongly desired: CPNPAC BLS ACLS and PALS certification for Nurse Practitioners***

Education Requirements:

Physician Assistant:

  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation and Review Commission on Physician Assistant Education. (ARCPA) (BLS/PALS/ACLS)

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Masters degree in nursing required in Pediatric Acute Care (CPNPAC)

Experience Requirements:

Pediatric or oncology experience preferred.

Required Credentials:

Nurse Practitioner

  • Must possess a current Advanced Practice Nurse License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing. (LC: APTN)
  • Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure nonCompact state (LC:RNTN) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state (LC: RNARK RNMISS or RNKY) Supervising Physician: verified by St. Jude Managed Care Department. (LC: SUPMD)
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification: American Nurses Credentialing Center (LC:ANCCNP) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (LC: AANP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (LC: PNCB) Certificate of Fitness: State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards (LC: CERTFIT) DEA certification: U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration within 6 months of employment. (LC: DEA)

Physician Assistant

  • (LC:PATN) Licensed by the state of TN Board of Medical Examiners to practice as a physician assistant.
  • (LC:NCCPACERT) Certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. (NCCPA)
  • (LC: SUPMD) Supervising Physician verified by St. Jude Managed Care Department.
  • (LC:DEA) DEA certified by U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration within 6 months of employment.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104000 $186160 per year for the role of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist Tier III.
