Job Description

POSITION TITLE:

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Behavior Specialist

POSITION LOCATION:

AdministrationBuilding

FLSA:

Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BCBA or minimum of a Masters Degree in Special Education or Mental Health
  • Experience and specialized knowledge in working with challenging behaviors
  • Extensive background with analyzing behaviors that could facilitate Functional behavior assessments and facilitating behavior plans
  • Evidence of strong organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills to build relations and to resolve conflict
  • Resolution for both students and stakeholders
  • Experience and training in behavior intervention and Autism
  • Evidence of effective behavior management strategies
  • Experience with atrisk students
  • Current trainer in crisis intervention preferred


REPORTS TO:

Director Of Special Education

JOB GOAL:To act as a liaison between school home and community to provide prevention assessment intervention and support services to enhance academic social and behavioral success of students.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills in group settings.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with its state and federal regulations related to student privacy laws.
  • Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fastpaced high intensive work environment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral programs: conduct functional assessments participate in the development of interim and positive behavior plans collect and graph data on students target behaviors and replacement behaviors.
  • Participates in the evaluation and revision of behavior plans.
  • Participate in conferences staff meetings day treatment meetings meetings for the development of behavior intervention plans and inservice training sessions as scheduled.
  • Ability to work with an ethnically and educationally diverse group of students parents and teachers.
  • Collaborate with teachers and model for teachers how to modify instruction for those students with behavioral needs.
  • Provide individualized behavior assessments.
  • Provide researchbased targeted interventions and monitor progress to support the integration of behavior supports.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to train other staff members to apply effective behavior management techniques.
  • Provide training to teachers paraprofessionals and parents inappropriate assessment development and of positive behavioral intervention plans.
  • Assist with the development of student crisis and safety plans.
  • Understand special education laws rules and regulations.
  • Follow building and school procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Special Education.
  • Participate in and facilitate districtwide behavior intervention initiatives.
  • Provide large and small group presentations.
  • Provide crisis intervention training.
  • Perform and model appropriate safety procedures for self and others.
  • Serve as the liaison between the district and the day treatment facilities; process referrals & conferences; and monitor attendance and student progress in the day treatment facilities.
  • Perform lifting of heavy educational supplies and instructional equipment .
  • Know Board of Education policies district and school guidelines and regulations and adhere to same.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing walking sitting occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders bending squatting and kneeling.
