Position: Teacher CTE CosmetologyWage/Hour Status: ExemptReports to: Principal and CTE Director Dept./School: CTE Copperas Cove High School Primary Purpose: provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences. These activities are designed to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. The teacher enables students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Additionally the teacher may be involved in training licensed cosmetologists estheticians or nail technicians in the art of instruction and teaching basic skills work habits and desirable attitudes necessary to pass state board licensure exams. Qualifications: Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in the following:o Trade and Industrial Education Grades 812 with appropriate work approval and/or o Vocational Trades and Industry with appropriate work approval. Must have a minimum of two 2 years of fulltime wageearning experience as a licensed cosmetologist/class A barber within the past eight 10 years. Must have current Texas Cosmetology Operator and Class A Barber license Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of core academic subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skillsExperience: Must have a minimum of two 2 years of fulltime wageearning experience as a licensed cosmetologist/class A barberMajor Responsibilities and Duties: Teaching a variety of courses from the following CTE career cluster:o Human Services Actively sponsoring the following CTE student organization(s): o Skills USA Instruct pupils utilizing current curriculum in preparation for state licensure exams. Direct and evaluate the learning experiences of the pupils in all activities sponsored by the school and provide guidance to the pupil in which promote his welfare and his proper educational development. Maintain accurate pupil accounting records in compliance with local and state requirements. Administer the classroom and its program of organization and management and to provide for the care and protection of school property and to be held accountable for all equipment issued to him/her. Participate in the planning and evaluation of the school program and to work cooperatively with the department head in the development of techniques and in the improvement of instruction. Participate in the business and professional activities of the faculty and maintain cordial and workable relationships with other members of the staff. Develop rules and regulations for the management of the classroom with the approval of the principal and enforce the same. To evaluate the effectiveness of all policies and report to the principal thereon. Interpret the policies of the school to parents and other patrons and to execute the Board of Trustees and administrative policies within the classroom and the community. Complete all TEAapproved training requirements for all assigned CTE courses. Perform all other duties assigned by the campus Principal and district Director of Career and Technical Education.
