ABOUT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES:
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation. DHS operates as an integrated health system operating 25 health centers and four acute care hospitals in addition to providing health care to youth in the juvenile justice system and inmates in the LA County jails. Across the network of DHS directly operated clinical sites and through partnerships with communitybased clinics DHS cares for about 600000 unique patients each year employs over 23000 staff and has an annual operating budget of 6.9 billion. Through academic affiliations with the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) the University of Southern California (USC) and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Sciences (CDU) DHS hospitals are training sites for physicians completing their Graduate Medical Education in nearly every medical specialty and subspecialty. In addition to its direct clinical services DHS also runs the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and the Countys 911 emergency response system as well as Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Reentry each with a critical role in connecting vulnerable populations including those released from correctional and institutional settings to supportive housing.

DEFINITION:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
One 1 year of experience as a Clinical Chemist Supervisor I* or the equivalent in an approved clinical laboratory.**
** An approved laboratory is defined as: A clinical laboratory that has a federal issued Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) Laboratory Certificate of Accreditation that authorizes the laboratory to accept human specimens for the purpose of performing laboratory examinations and is accredited by the College of American Pathologist (CAP) or The Joint Commission.
NOTE: Please ensure that the License and Certification Section of the application is completed by providing the title number date of issue date of expiration and the name of the issuing agency for all required license(s)/certificate(s). You can also provide a photocopy of each license/certificate with your application or to within 7 days of filing. All required licenses and certifications must be active and unrestricted.
Physical Class II Light:This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

****To receive credit for board certification we require a copy of the official or temporary certificate or official passing score report from the issuing board. To receive credit for the successful completion of a fellowship program we require a copy of the official certificate of completion or an official letter signed by authorized personnel which indicating the completion of an accredited fellowship program. Proof of board certification and/or fellowship can be attached to your application or sent via email to within 7 calendar days of filing.
OUT OF CLASS AND WITHHOLD INFORMATION:
No withholds are allowed. Required experience and education must be fully met at the time of filing and clearly indicated on your application. Outofclass experience is gained when performing significant duties of a higherlevel and when these duties are outside the scope of the employees normal position or inconsistent with the payroll title. EXAMINATION CONTENT:
Training and Experience Evaluation:
This assessment type will evaluate the training experience desirable qualifications and education you list on your application and supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This assessment is worth 100 of your total score.
The passing score for the assessment is 70.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. Candidates who have passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve 12 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.
No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve 12 months.
